The Offerings of Leviticus (Part Nine): Conclusion (Part Two)

'Personal' from John W. Ritenbaugh

Paul writes in Philippians 2:17, Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. The drink offering was an adjunct to the meal offering, and Paul considered his life as an offering to the Philippians for the benefit of their faith in God and His purpose. Because of this, he was not able to live life as he might otherwise have chosen, always being at their service and sacrificing his life on their behalf.

Offerings (Part Seven)

Sermon/Bible Study by John W. Ritenbaugh

The drink offering was an adjunct to the meal offering. It went with the meal offering. It was done with the meal offering. Paul considered himself a drink offering poured out for the benefit of those people. He is talking about his life being poured out. He is talking about him not being able to live the way that he chose to live. Rather he was always at the service of the brethren. His life was sacrificed for that.
