Holiness of God (Part 4)
Sermon by John W. RitenbaughHoliness requires an inner resolution within the mind that produces self-discipline. One must gird up the loins of the mind and be sober while resting hope fully upon the grace to be brought at the revelation of Jesus Christ. The mind must reject conformity to former lusts and pursue holiness in all conduct. His thoughts and ways are higher than human thoughts and ways as the heavens are higher than the earth. His understanding is infinite while human understanding has limits. The carnal mind is enmity against God and fights holiness. Holiness therefore involves relationships and a host of attitudes including faith hope and love. Growth occurs through growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Grace supplies the gifts needed when needed in the amount each person can rightly use. The process requires making choices and exerting the will in cooperation with God rather than independent action or passive waiting.
