The disturbances in the sun, moon, and stars are significant as they relate to broader celestial and earthly events marked by God. Genesis 1:14 reveals that the Creator placed these lights in the firmament for signs and appointed times of gathering. When these lights are darkened on such designated times, it prompts consideration of their deeper meaning. Scripture links the darkening of the sun, moon, and stars with times of judgment, as seen in the Sixth Seal of Revelation, which signals the beginning of God's judgment on those persecuting His people. The book of Joel mentions the darkening of these heavenly bodies as precursors to God's wrath. Similarly, Isaiah 13 describes the dimming of heavenly lights as part of God's judgment on Babylon, and Ezekiel 32 connects the darkening of the heavens with the extinguishing of a nation's light by God. In Ecclesiastes 12, Solomon uses the darkening of the sun, moon, and stars to symbolize the dimming of a person's mind and vitality as they near the end of life, reflecting a personal judgment. Additionally, notable celestial events, including lunar and solar eclipses, align with significant days marked by God, such as the Feast of Tabernacles, the last day of the Hebrew year, and the year of release, suggesting a pattern beyond mere coincidence.

The moon turning to blood, as in Joel 2:31, is fulfilled at the Sixth Seal, and that seal involves far more than eclipses: the sun is darkened, stars fall, and the sky recedes. Those stellar and sky disturbances have nothing to do with eclipses. Eclipses can be predicted centuries ahead only because the heavens now move with clockwork stability, but when the Sixth Seal opens, that stability is upended. God says He will shake the heavens (Haggai 2:6, 21), Christ says the powers of the heavens will be shaken (Matthew 24:29), and Isaiah 13:13 says the earth will be moved out of its place. The powers of the heavens are the forces of the heavenly bodies, so once they are shaken, no one can calculate eclipses. Any eclipses at the Sixth Seal come in a way and at a time that cannot be foreseen, and NASA cannot predict them. The sequence also matters: these signs come after the Fifth Seal, the martyrdom of those who hold God's testimony, and after the great tribulation, as the three Olivet Prophecy accounts show. Since the tribulation has not yet reached the point where God cuts things short for the elect, it is early to look for the Sixth Seal. A tetrad of lunar eclipses on God's holy days is still worth considering for its symbolism and God's purpose for those days, but it does not match everything Scripture says about the Sixth Seal.
