Are the Blood Moons Significant? (Part One)
CGG Weekly by David C. GrabbeIn recent years, the phenomenon of blood moons has captivated many within evangelical circles, driven by the observation of four lunar eclipses, known as a tetrad, occurring in 2014 and 2015 on Jewish holy days. This rare alignment, discovered by Mark Biltz through NASA's website, marks only the ninth such occurrence since the time of Christ. The coincidence of these eclipses with significant holy days has fueled widespread interest and speculation about their meaning. News of the blood moons spread rapidly, amplified by media and influential figures, creating a buzz about their potential significance. Despite the fascination, the blood moons do not fully align with biblical descriptions of cosmic events, such as those in the Sixth Seal of Revelation, which include disturbances in the sun, stars, and sky, far beyond mere eclipses. The predictability of current eclipses, enabled by the stable orbits of heavenly bodies, contrasts with the unpredictable, cataclysmic shaking of the heavens and earth described in scripture. Nevertheless, the symbolism of these blood moons and their timing on holy days remain noteworthy for consideration.
Are the Blood Moons Significant? (Part Two)
CGG Weekly by David C. GrabbeThe phenomenon of blood moons, characterized by lunar eclipses, is significant when considering celestial events marked by God for special attention. One more lunar eclipse is set to occur this year on the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles. Alongside these lunar events, a solar eclipse was observed on the last day of the previous Hebrew year, and a partial eclipse will be visible on the last day of the year of release, Elul 29, the day before the new civil year begins on the Feast of Trumpets. These occurrences, happening on days designated by God, seem beyond mere coincidence. Genesis 1:14 reveals that the Creator placed the lights in the firmament for signs and appointed times, indicating times of gathering. When these lights are darkened on such appointed times, it serves as an invitation to reflect on their potential significance. Scripture consistently links signs in the heavens, particularly the darkening of the sun and moon, with times of judgment, as seen in various passages that describe these events as precursors to God's wrath.
Are the Blood Moons Significant? (Part Three)
CGG Weekly by David C. GrabbeWhile lunar eclipses are not necessarily rare events, what is unusual is for them to occur on God's holy days. Understanding those days is key to finding the right significance to these blood moons. Based on their arrangement, there is a connection between the first day of Unleavened Bread and the first day of Tabernacles, and it is on these appointed times that the eclipses are occurring. In this regard, it is quite fitting that we should see a darkening of heavenly lights on the second and seventh festival days and in relation to the changing of the year and the year of release because the nations of Israel have spit the law of God out of their mouths and certainly do not fear before Him. Perhaps the eclipses of 2014 and 2015 are only a coincidental natural phenomenon, but they may also serve as a prod to evaluate whether we are still walking in the light or whether the lights above us are growing dark.
2015 Eclipse
Commentary by John W. RitenbaughA set of astronomical events like these will not occur for another 500 years. Consequently, this could be a significant year prophetically.
The Sixth Seal
'Prophecy Watch' by Richard T. RitenbaughThe Sixth Seal of Revelation foretells of the sun turning black and the moon turning red, stars falling, and a terrible earthquake that moves mountains.
The Sixth Seal and Israel
Sermonette by David C. GrabbeEach depiction of the Sixth Seal also shows God's involvement with physical Israelites. John's vision precedes a glimpse of 144,000 of the tribes of Israel.
'Children Are Their Oppressors'
Sermonette by Ronny H. GrahamAnyone with eyes and a modicum of common sense can see the prophecy of Isaiah 3:12 unfold before us, with children as our oppressors and women as our rulers.
The Source of Church Characteristics (Part One)
Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh (1932-2023)The seven churches of Revelation 2-3 all existed simultaneously and the characteristics of five of them will apparently be extant at the return of Christ.
