Gabriel, a messenger, appears to Daniel, imparting understanding and revealing visions, while facing spiritual opposition until aided by Michael. Michael, a chief prince and protector of God's people, engages in heavenly warfare, notably casting out the dragon, identified as Satan, and his forces. Helel, initially a super archangel and anointed cherub at God's throne, rebelled due to iniquity and was cast out, leading a third of the angels in fall. The Book of Daniel (Part Seven)

Sermon by Martin G. Collins

In the vast and awe-inspiring realm of God's dominion, He is surrounded by His heavens, His angels, and His archangels, numbering thousands upon thousands, forming the majestic setting for Daniel's deepening experience of prayer. Among these celestial beings, the archangel Gabriel, a messenger of profound significance, was sent from heaven to Daniel, touching him and imparting skill and understanding during a critical moment of supplication. Gabriel, whom Daniel had seen in prior visions, swiftly approached at the time of the evening offering, affirming Daniel's beloved status and urging him to consider and comprehend the vision revealed. Further glimpses into the spiritual warfare surrounding God's people reveal Gabriel's encounters with resistance, as he was delayed for twenty-one days by a powerful adversary until Michael, another mighty archangel, came to his aid. Michael, identified as one of the chief princes and the spiritual guardian of God's people, joined Gabriel in overcoming this opposition, demonstrating the immense struggles waged in the heavenly realms. This intervention underscores the protective role of archangels, as Michael is also noted in other accounts for contending with great evil, always under God's authority. The archangel Michael's significance is further highlighted as the protector of Israel, standing as their prince, ready to intervene even for a single faithful individual if necessary. This protective mantle extends spiritually to the church, the elect saints, encompassing all who are baptized and have put on Christ. These accounts of Gabriel and Michael, powerful archangels in God's service, offer great encouragement, revealing that God employs His celestial host to care for and strengthen His people amidst unseen battles, ensuring that His will prevails.

The Fall of Satan

Against the Wind

Sermonette by Clyde Finklea

Our calling resembles walking headlong into dangerous, deadly storm currents. Satan and his demons are fighting against God and those who belong to Him.

Angelic Responsibilities

Sermon/Bible Study by Martin G. Collins

God created the angels through Jesus Christ, including Helel, who was initially perfect in his ways from the day he was created. As a super archangel and great cherub, Helel was endowed with wisdom, beauty, and perfection, trained in the administration of God's government at the throne of the universe, and served as one of the two cherubs whose wings covered the throne of the Most High God. He was established on the holy mountain of God, walking amidst fiery stones, and was the anointed cherub who covered the throne. However, iniquity was found in him, leading to his rebellion and sin through the abundance of his trading, which filled him with violence. Consequently, God cast him out as a profane thing from the mountain of God, destroying him from his exalted position. Initially, Helel had been placed as ruler over the angels that sinned, possessing a throne exalted above them, with ambitions to exalt it further above the stars of God, aiming to invade heaven and rule the universe by displacing God. His rebellion marked the beginning of the fall of a third of the angels, contributing to the chaotic condition of the earth prior to the creation of man.

Image and Likeness of God (Part Three)

Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh

In the exploration of spiritual beings, the role of archangels emerges as significant, particularly through the accounts of Gabriel and Michael. Gabriel, encountered by Daniel, exhibits a formidable presence, with a body described as iridescent and glorious, a face like lightning, eyes like torches of fire, and a voice like a multitude. This powerful being touches Daniel, instilling both fear and a sense of tangible substance, and communicates a purpose as a messenger to reveal future events concerning Daniel's people. Gabriel also speaks of returning to fight the prince of Persia, indicating a need for assistance from Michael, another archangel, suggesting that their adversary matches their strength and requires combined effort to subdue. Michael, alongside his angels, is depicted in a celestial conflict, engaging in war against the dragon and his forces in heaven. This battle results in the dragon, identified as the ancient serpent, the Devil, and Satan, being cast out to the earth along with his angels, demonstrating Michael's authority and power in this spiritual warfare. The imagery of casting down these beings reinforces their substantial nature, as they are not mere essence but possess a tangible form that can be defeated and displaced. These accounts of archangels reveal their active involvement in divine missions, their physical interactions with humans, and their engagement in significant spiritual battles, underscoring their role as powerful, substantial beings in the service of God's will.

Satan (Part 1)

Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh

In the spiritual battle that shapes our journey toward the Kingdom of God, we encounter powerful beings, both malevolent and benevolent. Among the benevolent forces are the archangels, mighty beings of immense power who serve as protectors and ministers to the heirs of salvation. In Daniel 10, a vivid account reveals an angelic figure, likely Gabriel, whose presence was so overwhelming that it caused terror among men, though they could not see him. This being faced resistance from a formidable adversary, identified as the prince of the kingdom of Persia, for twenty-one days until Michael, one of the chief princes, came to his aid. This titanic struggle, unseen by Daniel, underscores the immense power of these archangels as they intervened to ensure the answer to Daniel's prayer was delivered. These archangels stand as guardians, protecting us from malignant forces that seek our destruction. Their interventions, often unbeknownst to us, shield us from potential annihilation. The encouragement drawn from this is profound, as it reveals that these mighty beings are on our side, outnumbering the demons at least two to one. They are ministering spirits, actively serving and safeguarding those called to salvation, ensuring that we are not left defenseless against the unseen powers arrayed against us.

The true nature of God differs greatly from the trinitarian concept. Having created us in His form and shape, God is developing us into His character image.

The Three Angels

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

We tend to organize things in groups of three, such as the proclamation of the three angels in Revelation 14:6-13. Angelos could refer to a human messenger.
