Basic Doctrines: The First Resurrection

Bible Study by Martin G. Collins

The hope of the Christian lies in the resurrection of the dead, a promise rooted in the power of God who will raise all to life again. The saints of God will be part of the first and better resurrection, rising at Christ's second coming to eternal life as immortal, incorruptible spirit beings. Only the just, the righteous, will be resurrected at this time, transformed into bodies like His glorious body, while the unjust dead will not rise until a later period. This first resurrection is far superior, offering the saints a place in the God Family, filled with God's own character and incapable of sin. God has established an order of resurrections, with the saints rising first, followed by later resurrections for others. Jesus promises the overcoming saints a new name, power over the nations under Him, righteousness, and a place on His throne, affirming the certainty and surpassing value of this better resurrection.
