The vision of Daniel 7 introduces the little horn as a new feature absent from the parallel statue vision of Daniel 2. While Daniel considers the ten horns on the fourth beast, a little horn emerges among them, uproots three of the original horns by the roots, possesses eyes like the eyes of a man, and has a mouth that speaks pompous words. These traits mark the little horn as an individual ruler rather than a kingdom. The material identifies this figure as the first biblical reference to the man of sin, also called the son of perdition, the lawless one, the two-horned beast speaking like a dragon, and the false prophet. Parallel passages in II Thessalonians 2, Revelation 13, and Revelation 19 describe the same person through shared details: his destruction occurs at the return of Jesus Christ, he utters arrogant words, performs miraculous signs in the presence of the beast, deceives people into idolatry, wages war against the saints, seeks to change times and law, and exercises authority for three and a half years coinciding with the Great Tribulation. The little horn arises after the ten kings, differs from them, subdues three, persecutes the saints of the Most High, and speaks against the Most High until the Ancient of Days intervenes. Judgment then removes his dominion, consumes and destroys it forever, and transfers the kingdom, dominion, and greatness of all kingdoms under heaven to the saints of the Most High, whose kingdom endures forever. This development reinforces the broader message that God rules history, that the fourth beast power and its little horn will be judged, and that the saints will possess an everlasting kingdom under the Son of Man.
