Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughHebrews split the sacred year into five parts according to the festivals. The Passover season occurred in the springtime with Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread. A late spring and early summer season encompassed Pentecost. The time of hot summer centered around the ninth of Ab when the temple fell. The fall feasts came between Trumpets and the Last Great Day. The winter season centered on the feast of dedication and the feast of Purim in the month of Adar. These five festival seasons of Passover Pentecost Summer the Fall Festivals and the Winter corresponded to the five books of the Psalms the five books of the Law and the five Festival Scrolls. Book I corresponded to Passover Genesis Song of Songs and the themes of Christ's Human Life Sacrifice Deliverance and Salvation. Book II corresponded to Pentecost Exodus Ruth and the themes of Marriage Law Covenant Exile and Redemption. Book III corresponded to Summer Leviticus Lamentations and the themes of the Temple Correction Tribulation and Devastation. Book IV corresponded to the Fall Feasts Numbers Ecclesiastes and the themes of Character Christ's Return God Reigns and Millennium. Book V corresponded to Winter Deuteronomy Esther and the themes of God's Acts and Accomplishments of Salvation.
