The Writing of Prostitutes

'Prophecy Watch' by Martin G. Collins

In this decadent society, we are increasingly confronted with a barrage of pornography, which often ties into the concept of prostitution. The origin of the word pornography derives from the Greek word pornographos, meaning the writing of prostitutes, originally describing prostitutes and their trade, but later referring to writings and pictures intended to arouse sexual desire. Astonishingly, pornocracy is recognized as a form of government, defined as government by prostitutes or the domination and influence of profligate women, notably in the government of Rome during the early part of the tenth century, showcasing significant influence over people's lives. God's view on such matters is clear, as He addresses Israel's actions in Ezekiel 16:43, commanding them not to commit lewdness in addition to their abominations. Historically, many Israelites exposed themselves in lewdness, with God declaring He has seen their adulteries, lustful behaviors, and the lewdness of their harlotry as abominations in Jeremiah 13:27. Idolatry often accompanied or followed perversions of the flesh, with some ancient Israelite ceremonies involving lewd and sexually explicit behavior in the worship of foreign gods like Baal and Astarte. Around the time of Paul, Corinth was infamous for the Temple of Diana and its sacred prostitutes, where young virgin girls were required to serve as prostitutes before marriage, reflecting a belief that such acts pleased the gods and ensured fertility and abundance. God decrees that those who commit abominations, including nakedness and lewdness, shall be cut off from their people, as stated in Leviticus 18:29. Uncovering another's nakedness, a euphemism for illicit sexual relations, defiles the land, and the land will expel its inhabitants for such practices. Today's society, with its proliferation of pornography and immodesty, mirrors these ancient sins, as many emulate the immodesty of entertainers, resulting in appearances akin to prostitutes, pimps, and gang members, further eroding decency.
