What a Time to be Alive

Sermonette by Ryan McClure

Focusing on how rapidly advancing technology impacts God's relationship with everyone, but with special emphasis to the younger generations (Z, Alpha, Beta), we learn techniques for maintaining a stable relationship with God despite the shifting technological ground. Generational identity groups various population cohorts into 15-17-year time periods. New technologies, social trends, and slang impact the way they view the world. Starting with Gen Z, they are the first generation to grow up completely immersed in new digital tools and the various methods of doing things that come from them. With the "digital immersion" comes other challenges like an unstable economy and the exposure of institutions (religious, governmental, media, education) as having deep rooted corruption. This creates a more decentralized form of spirituality (Judges 21:25). This also creates a severely anxious generation with uncertainty about the foundations of their world and the future it holds. To combat this problem, we are called to: 1.) Pray, 2.) Keep his Appointments (Feasts), 3.) Seek God and Believe Him, and 4). Be Productive and Redeem the Time. In a world rapidly turning into something mysteriously new, focus on the one thing that does not change—God and his truth.
