Israel: Future
'Prophecy Watch' by Richard T. RitenbaughThe descendants of Israel, scattered from their God-given homeland, eventually settled in northwestern Europe and colonized distant lands, forming great nations like the United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand. Most modern Israelites remain unaware of their identity and the future awaiting them. God desires Israel to once again be the model nation, demonstrating to the world how to live according to His way. After enduring punishment and devastation, God will regather Israel with a specific purpose, bringing them to conversion so they can fulfill their original role as a model nation. With Israel back in its own land and fulfilling this role, the earth will experience peace, prosperity, and security. This remnant of Israel, living by God's ways, will assist in the conversion of the rest of the world and raise their children in righteousness. Everything about Israel will be cleansed and purified, fitting for a holy nation. Even beyond the Millennium, Israel will remain prominent in God's government, their names written on the twelve gates of the New Jerusalem, bringing joy to God throughout eternity. Though the coming days are dark, Israel has a glorious future, as God works out His purpose to bring them into His Family with eternal life in His Kingdom. Before this, Israel will be severely chastened for its sins, but those who remain will be humbled and ready to submit to God, pleading for His forgiveness, redemption, and salvation, which He will gladly grant.
Why Israel? (Part Two)
'Prophecy Watch' by Richard T. RitenbaughGod chose Israel to represent Him to the peoples of the earth, providing them with every advantage to serve as a model nation. He started them with magnificent parentage through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and gave them a fertile, fruitful land described in Scripture as one of milk and honey. God offered them the best laws, wise leaders, protection from illness, abundant crops and herds, and the promise to fight their wars. All they had to do was obey Him and keep the covenant they agreed to, yet they failed miserably despite these blessings. God allowed this failure to demonstrate that even with every physical advantage, humanity cannot have a relationship with Him or be saved without spiritual intervention. God wanted Israel to be a holy and separate nation, retaining their distinguishing traits and practices to be a people others would emulate, not for reasons of racial superiority, but because the true God was their God. Their laws were intended to make a great impression on surrounding nations like the Canaanites, Philistines, and Edomites, and beyond, but due to their failure to live by these laws and take advantage of God's nearness, their influence as a model nation rarely extended beyond their borders. Often, Israel became outright pagan instead. During the Millennium, Israel will finally perform its original purpose as a model and mediatory nation for the rest of the world. With access to God through His Holy Spirit, they will keep His laws, statutes, and judgments, not just in word but in deed. The Gentiles will notice and begin to make the right connections, seeing that God has sanctified the Israelites by setting them apart, blessing them abundantly for their obedience. This will lead to conversions by the thousands, perhaps even by nations, as they realize the peace and prosperity that ensue when a nation obeys God and lives as He teaches. In the end, when God provides the complete package of spiritual blessings, the Israelites will glorify Him as He intended from the beginning, fulfilling their ultimate purpose.
The Doctrine of Israel (Part One): Origins
Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughGod desired Israel to be a model nation, serving as a witness to the Gentiles. As stated in Deuteronomy 4:5-6, He instructed them to observe His statutes and judgments, which would demonstrate their wisdom and understanding to surrounding peoples. These nations would marvel at Israel's laws and governance, recognizing them as a great and wise people. God's purpose was for Israel to display how His people live, attracting others through their obedience and honor. However, history shows that Israel often failed to fulfill this role, becoming instead a model of what not to do, despite God's abundant blessings and care. His intent, as expressed in Deuteronomy 7:13, was to love, bless, and multiply them, providing for all their needs, yet they could not achieve the righteousness He desired without the full outpouring of His Spirit. Though they did not meet this ideal in their early history, God's plan holds that this purpose will be realized in the Millennium, when Israel will finally exemplify the model nation He envisioned.
Feast of Tabernacles Basics
Feast of Tabernacles Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughIsrael will be the model nation after Christ returns. Other nations will see what has been going on in Jerusalem. They will transport the Israelites back to the land of Israel. They will bring their sustenance along with their gold and silver to give to God and God's people. The example that Israel will be giving will have some iron behind it. A rod of iron will be present. Because the example will be there Israel will turn. There are bad things that will happen if these other nations having seen it do not change. Most nations will turn to God eventually. Their main job will be to be God's witnesses. They will be the example nation out of all the nations of the world after Christ comes. Finally Gentiles from around the world will be able to look to Jerusalem and see it being done right.
