Sheep Rustling
CGG Weekly by David C. GrabbeIn the modern context of spiritual shepherding, a troubling practice akin to sheep rustling has emerged, where sheep are enticed to abandon their current shepherd for a new one. These sheep are lured not with promises of good food, clean water, peace, or protection, but with the allure of joining something grand and assurances of safety from future trials, alongside the honor of supporting a particularly distinguished shepherd. Such actions disregard the divine order, as all sheep ultimately belong to the Chief Shepherd, and those who hear His voice follow Him to the human shepherd He deems best for their needs. For a shepherd to lure away sheep not assigned to them is to commit a grave offense, akin to rustling, which in times past was a severe crime. This carnal focus on building personal empires through large flocks contradicts the emphasis on spiritual health and quality over mere quantity, ignoring the sacred responsibility to care for the sheep's true well-being.
