Mike Ford, describing a picture of a fox hiding in the middle of a group of bloodhounds, with the caption, "When in trouble, try to blend in," compares this picture to the results of a Barna poll stating that 59% of 'Christians' do not believe in Satan. Hollywood and the 'progressive' media have done a good job of providing protective cover for Satan and his demons. We can see the hand of Satan in the transgender movement, the obsession with climate change, and the abortion plague. To promiscuous 'progressive' feminists, emboldened by the hideous Roe v. Wade decision, killing a child is like having a flu shot. California taxpayers have paid for 88,456 abortions, but have paradoxically fought to keep 126 murderers (some of whom had inflicted indescribable torture on their victims) alive. As the people of ancient Judah offered sacrifices, including their own children, to other gods, modern Israel follows their practice, murdering their children in abortion clinics. Satan exists; Satan hates God: Satan hates families. Thankfully, God's power far eclipses anything Satan can possibly do.
Charles Whitaker, citing British philosopher Arnold Toynbee's warning that when a civilization responds to a challenge successfully, it survives, and when it does not, it commits suicide, proclaims that because America, over the last several decades, has not responded to the challenge, the die is cast for its destruction. History could be characterized as "a panoply of responses" from forceful, extreme, wimpy, or Band-Aid and non-existent. King David, because of his botched-up, indulgent, child-rearing practices, failing to deal with pride, rebellion, and self-centeredness of his offspring, brought havoc upon the nation of Israel. Responses on the macro or national level must begin on the micro or family level; there cannot be national governance unless there is first successful individual governance. In the 1930's, the comic book and the movie cartoon arrived on the American scene, exploring and traversing the boundaries of decency. Bimbo's Initiation is an example of this low level of decency. Conservative religious circles responded to the deterioration of moral values, forcing the comic book industry to police itself, more with the motivation of protecting their profits than from any twinge of conscience. In 1954, nevertheless, the descent into the cesspool was temporarily averted, at least for a couple of decades, when crime was punished instead of glorified, when policemen were respected instead of vilified, when females were drawn realistically, and sexual perversion was abnormal rather than normal as it is portrayed today by liberal progressive humanists. Since 1971, the comic industry has destroyed its own code, and smut and filth is the new normal. We have no bold Phineases today who are unafraid of political correctness. The die has been cast for morally bankrupt America (and modern Israel as a whole). As God's called-out ones, we must draw close to our God as our nation reaps the harvest of its crop of sin and iniquity.
Ronny Graham, reflecting on the world's holiday of Christmas, suggests that if it really is Christ's birthday, it is strange that everybody else except Christ receives a gift. Christmas does not celebrate Christ's birth, but all of its trappings derive from worldly mythical pagan sources, including Samhain and Old Nick (another name for the Devil). Mistletoe is a poisonous herb, but ironically serves as a counterfeit of the tree of life. The Christmas tree, alternately associated with the tree spirit, the trinity, and the Virgin Mary, totally derives from pagan sources. A cult of Shamanism in northern Europe used the hallucinogenic mushroom as their mystical 'eucharist' celebrating the 'Christmas season' long before Christ was born. Nothing in the symbolism of the season has anything to do with Christ or His birth.
II Corinthians 6:14-16 contains a warning that good and evil do not mix, so as Christians, we must be careful to avoid having anything to do with what is wrong. Highlighting Proverbs 8:13, David Grabbe reveals that the fear of God plays a significant role in ridding evil from our lives.
Martin Collins, delving into the cacophony of conspiratorial theories, traces a single authorship to Satan the Devil, the prince and power of the air, the author of chaos and demonic confusion and the master conspirator or the arch-anti-Christ. We are admonished by the Apostle John to test and discern the spirits, judging between the true and the false, using the scripture as the steady standard of truth- in a spirit of humility and teach-ability rather than pride and arrogance. We dare not exalt emotion and "gifts of the spirit" (in the guise of inspiration) over doctrine- or the other extreme- dead-end intellectualism. God is a God of order and soundness of mind rather than bizarre extremes. Both doctrine and inspiration must be based upon the truth of God. We have an obligation, with the help of God's Holy Spirit, to systematically test every spirit to see whether it is of God - or the arch deceiver who often transforms himself into an angel of light. Testing the spirits is mandated for lay members as well as the ministry. We cannot place confidence in phenomena (such as miracles- which can be counterfeit) or by enthusiasm and zeal. We must be wary of testimonials of personal inspiration- especially if they run contrary to scriptural basis. We need to test the spirits by (1.) comparing the 'new' truth to extant scriptural teaching, (2.) determining the teacher's readiness to submit to the God's scripture, and (3) determining whether the minister or teacher glorifies God the Father and Jesus Christ.
Halloween has become the second-most popular holiday on the calendar in recent years—even to the point that Christian churches sponser parties on it. Richard Ritenbaugh shows, however, that this night of ghouls not only lacks biblical foundation, but the Bible warns us against participating in such activities.
Halloween has seen a recent surge in popularity, now ranking second only to Christmas in retail sales. There is no doubt, however, that Halloween should never be celebrated by true Christians. Not only is it pagan in origin and practice, but it also promotes self-indulgence, deception, and other ungodly behaviors. Far from being a harmless holiday, Halloween has the potential to destroy our relationship with God.
