description: (hide) Alexander Pope, in his "An Essay on Man," proclaimed, "Hope springs eternal in the human breast," reflecting the universal hope that good will triumph over evil. But Babylon's hope is an illusion because the movers and shakers of the Babylonish system have rejected the holy and spiritual laws of Almighty God. Genuine hope must be grounded in truth and obedience to God's law (Deuteronomy 28:15-28). In Isaiah, we learn that the rebellious descendants of Jacob no longer know God, resulting in all the diseases of Egypt to afflict them, including mental illness, suicide, political strife, sexual mutilation of minors, sodomy, and euthanasia, promoted by the dominant political parties in America, Britain, and Canada. Jacob's children can no longer figure out cause and effect as the reprobate minds of the political leaders cannot tell the difference between right and wrong. God's chosen saints know that Jesus Christ is the only solution, and that catastrophic steps in God's plan may be the painful road back to normalcy, while consequences of Israel's sins must come to the forefront, to draw a stiff-necked people back to reality. Hope in Christ Jesus is the only hope that springs eternal.
