Over-Honoring Children

Commentary by Martin G. Collins

Western, let's talk about the troubling trend of bribing children in our society. Many parents, in their obsession with keeping their kids happy, neglect discipline and instead resort to bribes and pleading to placate them. This approach undermines proper parenting, turning children into selfish individuals who expect constant appeasement. When parents prioritize their children's desires over balanced guidance, they create unhealthy family dynamics. This lack of discipline often results in children growing up either incompetent and codependent or hostile and eager to escape such smothering influence. We must be cautious not to set an example of overly-honoring our children, as it disrupts the proper order of priorities where God should be first.

Are We Losing Our Children?

CGG Weekly by David C. Grabbe

The frenzied pace of modern life, marked by stress, anxiety, and busyness, profoundly impacts not only adults but also the next generation. If children are not properly instructed and cared for amidst this chaos, they risk becoming lost. While troubling trends among youth are not yet the norm, the need for nurturing and security remains critical. Encouragingly, parts of the culture are recognizing this, with homeschooling on the rise and more mothers of young children leaving the workplace. Most crucially, fathers must reject materialism and narcissism to provide leadership, security, attention, involvement, and instruction, ensuring no more children are lost.

Childrearing (Part Six)

If we, as Christian parents, could shape and mold the minds of our children early, we could inoculate them against making the same mistakes that we did.

Childrearing (Part Two)

Sermon/Bible Study by John W. Ritenbaugh

We cannot turn the teaching of our children over to others, but instead must train and educate them to become productive citizens in the Kingdom of God.
