Giving Glory to God
CGG Weekly by Mike FuhrerPrayer, according to God's will, is a vital aspect of glorifying Him. When we pray for specific needs, as in the case of a man finding a lost contact lens immediately after asking God for help, we witness His timely answers. God has promised to respond to our prayers, yet His expectations of us must align with ours of Him. He desires us to present ourselves as living sacrifices, offering praise and thanks through our lips, as well as doing good and sharing with others. This glorifying of God occurs directly in prayer and song, and through conversations where we share His blessings. While God may not always heal as we expect, using suffering at times to build faith, His answers to specific requests, like providing quiet seating or safe travel, remind us to continually thank Him for His care. Glorifying God for His immediate responses to our prayers ensures that He receives the honor due Him.

When Will God Answer?
Sermon by Martin G. CollinsPrayer, to be effective, must align with God's will and be offered with thoughtful clarity, avoiding vagueness or confusion. Praying with doubt renders the prayer faithless and ineffective, as doubting God's power hinders the connection to Him. Satan often distracts during prayer, using wealth, secular interests, or wandering thoughts to pull focus away from the divine purpose. Delays in God's answers to prayers can cause discouragement, yet perseverance is essential. Even when God makes us wait, testing our character and faith, we must not lose heart but continue praying intently, seeking strength to endure trials. Scriptural accounts show that God often delayed delivering His faithful, as seen with figures like Moses, David, and Paul, who endured prolonged suffering to develop patience and perseverance. These delays are not due to a lack of faith but are part of God's plan for our ultimate good, refining us for His Kingdom. The Parable of the Persistent Widow illustrates the necessity of persistent prayer, showing that if even an unjust judge can be moved by persistence, how much more will a righteous God respond to His elect who cry out to Him day and night. God's compassion far exceeds that of the judge, as He bears long with us out of love, not indifference, delaying answers to allow for repentance, faith-building, and the best circumstances for His intervention. Though His response may not always be immediate, when it comes, it is sudden and certain, reflecting His commitment to justice for His people. Prayer must be rooted in faith and submission to God's will, trusting that He knows the best time to act. While we should hope for swift answers, we must be prepared to wait patiently, understanding that God's delays are for our spiritual growth. We are to continue asking and believing, reflecting active obedience and reliance on Him, committing our whole life to His care. Trusting in God, especially in difficult times, means surrendering to His will, finding peace and joy in the assurance that He will resolve our problems in His perfect timing.
