Are the Blood Moons Significant? (Part One)

CGG Weekly by David C. Grabbe

The Bible references the moon turning to blood in several passages, with Joel 2:31 stating that the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and awesome day of the Lord. However, other scriptures, such as those in the sixth chapter of Revelation, describe the moon turning red as part of broader cosmic disturbances involving the sun, stars, and the sky itself, far beyond mere eclipses. These events, associated with the Sixth Seal, include the shaking of the heavens and the earth being moved out of its place, as mentioned in Haggai 2:6, 21, Matthew 24:29, and Isaiah 13:13. Such upheavals will disrupt the predictable orbits of heavenly bodies, rendering events like eclipses impossible to calculate in advance, unlike the current stability that allows precise predictions. Additionally, these cosmic signs follow the Fifth Seal's martyrdom and a time of unprecedented tribulation, indicating that the full scope of these heavenly signs is yet to come.

Different Signs of the Times

CGG Weekly by David C. Grabbe

In recent times, there has been a notable resurgence of interest in extraterrestrial phenomena and unidentified flying objects within mainstream media and entertainment, often reported with a neutral or slightly positive tone. This trend raises questions about the cultural conditioning towards a unified response to perceived invaders from space. The movie "Signs" introduces a unique perspective by integrating the concept of a sovereign God with the presence of extraterrestrials, blurring traditional lines of thought. The Bible, as God's instruction manual, does not indicate the existence of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, suggesting that such knowledge is unnecessary for our salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. As the end-time nears, satan's deceptions are foretold to increase, potentially manifesting as signs in the heavens that mislead many. Christ's return will be a spectacular event, marked by heavenly signs, and will face significant resistance from both human and supernatural forces. In this context, those who keep God's commandments will be targeted by satan yet protected by God, as humanity faces a cataclysmic final battle against a returning King.

Will Aliens Invade the Earth?

Article by Staff

Signs in the heavens begin with a declaration of God's glory rather than a warning of danger. Psalm 19:1-2 and Deuteronomy 10:14 establish that outer space belongs to God, continually testifying to His handiwork, and that nothing occurs in the vastness of the universe apart from His knowledge and sovereignty. This foundation of divine authority over the heavens sets the stage for understanding how Satan corrupts this truth for his own end-time deception. Satan's ambition, quoted in Isaiah 14:13-14, was originally to exalt his throne above the stars of God and become like the Most High. Though defeated in that heavenly rebellion, his plan has not changed; rather than confronting God directly in the heavens again, he now waits for God to confront him on earth. To prepare mankind for this final conflict, Satan has spent years conditioning humanity to believe that extraterrestrial life exists and threatens to destroy or conquer the earth. In reality, the true "aliens" are Satan and his fallen angels, who dwell unseen on earth and travel through space, as shown in Job 1:6-7. This deception is reinforced through mass media and entertainment—films such as The Arrival, Independence Day, and the Star Trek saga, along with numerous television programs, cartoons, video games, and comic books—which condition both adults and children to expect an alien invasion and to see global military unity as humanity's salvation. Popular fascination with abductions, UFOs, and crop circles further reflects this satanic conditioning. Notably, depictions of alien arrivals amid clouds and heavenly displays counterfeit the true return of Christ described in Matthew 24:30 and Acts 1:9-11. Revelation 12:7-13:8 reveals that Satan will be given authority over the earth for three and a half years, during which his false church and false Messiah—the Antichrist—will perform signs to convince the world he is God, as Paul warns in II Thessalonians 2:3-4. Yet the true signs of Christ's coming, foretold in Matthew 24:29-30, involve the sun darkening, the moon losing its light, and the stars falling—cosmic disturbances marking the true Day of the Lord, as echoed in Revelation 6:12-17 and Isaiah 13:13, where God declares He will shake the heavens and move the earth from its place. As God's wrath unfolds through the Seven Trumpets and Seven Bowls, the nations will gather at Armageddon (Revelation 16:12-16), mistaking the returning Christ and His heavenly armies (Revelation 19:11-16) for an alien invasion. In their deception, humanity will unite to oppose Him, only to fail catastrophically (Zechariah 14:3, 12-15; Joel 2:1-11). Satan, the true architect of humanity's self-destruction, will finally be exposed and imprisoned for a thousand years (Revelation 20:1-3), after which God will establish His Kingdom of peace and prosperity. Thus, the signs in the heavens ultimately reveal both Satan's counterfeit conspiracy and God's genuine, sovereign triumph over it.

The End Is Not Yet

'Prophecy Watch' by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

The world has witnessed numerous crises, with natural and manmade disasters striking frequently, causing immense damage and loss of life. Amidst this turmoil, there are signs in the heavens that carry significant meaning. Jesus Christ Himself speaks of His second coming as a dramatic and unmistakable event, likened to a massive flash of lightning and a roll of thunder that will encompass the entire sky. His return will be a worldwide phenomenon that no one will be able to miss, occurring during a time of war. These signs are not secret or subtle; they are clear warnings and indicators of the impending return of the King of kings, as He comes in wrath and power to judge and establish His Kingdom. The Day of the Lord will be a time of darkness, marked by death and destruction, a great and dreadful day as foretold in prophecy. True Christians are urged to heed these signs embedded in recent disasters, to repent of their sins, and to draw closer to God in preparation for His glorious appearing.

Post-Historic Cave-Dwellers

'Prophecy Watch' by Charles Whitaker

In Revelation 6, the earthshaking events involving the sun, moon, and sky are so immense that they fill all with harrowing terror day and night. These signs in the heavens accompany God's initial judgments on those who have destroyed the earth, as well as His beneficial actions to terraform the planet, making it habitable for life as He created it. The notable men, driven underground at the end of satan's rule, become like cavemen, crying out irrationally to mountains and rocks to fall on them and hide them from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. They are overwhelmed by the great day of His wrath, left to wonder, who is able to stand? These celestial disturbances and the terror they inspire reveal the profound impact of God's power and the unfolding of His plan to restore the earth.
