Isaiah 44:18 says much of this comes because most do not humble themselves to listen to the way of God. While many of the mature members of the church are not tempted to rush off to participate in Christmas, their children or the younger called-out ones may be tempted to join with their friends, families, and peers to belong to the ways of society. We are advised to focus on the ultimate prize of our Election and realize how insignificant the customs of the world are.
