The Father-Son Relationship (Part Four)
Sermon by John W. RitenbaughThe term "Godhead" is misleading and does not reflect the biblical teaching. In Acts 17:29, the word should be translated as "divine nature" or "Deity," indicating that the nature of God does not resemble material things like gold, silver, or stone. Jesus Christ, being of the same nature as the Father, perfectly expressed this divine nature in His life and actions. In Colossians 2:9, the term "Godhead" is also incorrectly used. Modern translations correctly render it as "Deity" or "divinity," emphasizing that the fullness of Deity dwelt in Christ bodily. This does not mean Jesus is the Absolute Deity or part of a Trinity, but rather that He perfectly represented the Deity as a human being. The Bible clearly distinguishes between the Father and the Son. The Father is the Absolute Deity, and Jesus Christ, while divine, is the perfect complement of the Father, filling up and completing the revelation of the Father to mankind.
The Father-Son Relationship (Part Five)
Sermon by John W. RitenbaughThe term 'Godhead' as used in the King James Version is a mistranslation. The correct translation of the Greek term in Acts 17:29 is 'divine nature' or 'deity.' Similarly, in Colossians 2:9, the term 'Godhead' should be understood as referring to the fullness of the Deity dwelling in Christ bodily. This indicates that Jesus Christ is the perfect Complement of the Absolute Deity, the Father, completing and making perfect the revelation of the Father to mankind.
The Father-Son Relationship (Part One)
Sermon by John W. RitenbaughThe Godhead consists of one Being, the One we call the Father. Jesus Christ is clearly a different Being from the Father, even though He is one with Him. They are in perfect agreement in terms of nature, character, government, and purpose. The Father is the Source of everything, and the Son carries out His commands. The Father is invisible and inaudible, while Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God. The Trinity doctrine claims that there are three co-equal beings of the same substance in the Godhead, but this is not supported by the Scriptures, which show that the Father and the Son are not co-equal. The Father is greater than the Son, and the Holy Spirit does not fit into this relationship as a co-equal being because no such being exists.
The Father-Son Relationship (Part Three)
Sermon by John W. RitenbaughThe Father and Son are separate; the Father is the source of all power, while the Son serves as the channel through which we interface with the Father.
The Father-Son Relationship (Part Seven)
Sermon by John W. RitenbaughThe Holy Spirit is never venerated as a separate being. Our hope is the indwelling of Christ, used interchangeably with 'Spirit of God' and 'Spirit of Truth.'
Image and Likeness of God (Part Three)
Sermon by John W. RitenbaughThe numerous scriptural references to angelic beings indicate that the spiritual entities have tangible substance. God is not a universal nothingness.
Purpose-Driven Churches (Part 1)
Sermon by John W. RitenbaughDespite the growing popularity of Purpose-Driven churches, national immorality is still increasing. The 'emerging church' grows numerically by suppressing truth.
