Holiness is His beauty. Holiness is the beauty of all of His other attributes. It is the rule of all of His actions. Holiness is transcendent and powerful purity. Only God is truly holy. God can put His people into a state of holiness by sanctifying them to His use. Holiness must be perfected. God is Spirit, fellowship with God, and faith and humility, which produces obedience, are the means by which holiness is perfected. Perfecting holiness is the process by which His people are transformed from the glory of man to the glory of God.

God's holiness embodies the totality of His excellence as transcendent purity, otherness, and radiant glory that exceeds every human superlative and the vastness of creation itself. This beauty of holiness draws forth worship from David in I Chronicles 29 and from the angels in Revelation 4, while the Song of Moses in Exodus 15 declares that none among the gods is glorious in holiness like the Lord. The same beauty appears in His unchanging reliability, steadfast love that overturns death, infinite understanding, and every attribute that remains constant while the universe decays. God summons His people to reflect this beauty by becoming holy as He is holy, walking in the light of righteousness rather than darkness, and purifying themselves just as He is pure. Through fellowship with the Father and the Son, the indwelling of Christ, and steady growth in grace, the beauty of holiness takes outward form as perspectives, attitudes, and virtues of Jesus Christ appear in daily conduct. This sanctification, accomplished by God's active enabling power, transforms believers from glory to glory until they are glorified and shine with the same effulgent beauty that belongs to Him alone.

The purest of all beauty is moral beauty, and the purest of moral beauty is the beauty of holiness. This quality stands as the final qualification for granting any seal of approval, requiring that moral depravity or iniquity receive no endorsement even when accompanied by great ability. The high priest's head plate bore an engraving like a signet that represented the holiness of the Lord, so that the gifts and sacrifices of the people might be accepted. In the same way, the seal of the living God placed upon the foreheads of His servants sets them apart for preservation from destruction. God Himself establishes believers in Christ and seals them with the Holy Spirit of promise as a guarantee of their inheritance. This sealing marks them as His own while also preserving them for the day of redemption, provided they respond with trust and belief. Yet the same Spirit can be grieved by bitterness, wrath, anger, loud quarreling, evil speaking, and other forms of iniquity. Satan himself was once the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty, until iniquity was found in him and pride caused him to be cast down. The guarantee therefore rests upon God and Christ fulfilling Their promises, while the continuing acceptance of the seal depends upon the faithfulness of those who receive it. The indwelling Spirit writes God's law upon renewed hearts, producing visible fruit that identifies His children and renders their lives acceptable. Because the Creator acts not merely as a critic but as Judge, immorality finds no place in His Kingdom, yet He continues to seal and prepare those who work with His Spirit for the measure and stature of the fullness of Christ.
