Searching for Israel (Part Seven): Seven Years' Punishment

Article by Charles Whitaker

God established a specific time to terminate Israel's punishment, as recorded in Leviticus 26, where He uses the phrase "seven times more" four times in the context of punishment (verses 18, 21, 24, and 28). In this context, "seven times more" refers to duration, not intensity, indicating that He will punish Israel for a length of seven times. A prophetic time is one year of 360 days, making seven times equivalent to seven prophetic years, or 2,520 days (7 x 360). Using the year-for-a-day principle, each day represents one year, resulting in a total duration of 2,520 years for Israel's punishment. This period began with the fall of Israel in 718 BC and ended in AD 1802, providing a precise criterion for identifying modern-day Israel. Leviticus 26:18, 21, 24, and 28 all convey that if Israel refuses to obey God, He will withhold fulfilling His conditional promises for 2,520 years.
