Christian Dating: Advice for Today
Article by StaffSex outside marriage presents serious dangers in the current stressful conditions facing the church. Young people sometimes experiment with it while dabbling in worldly practices, yet Scripture states that marriage is honorable and the bed undefiled, while fornicators and adulterers God will judge. The physical urges God created to draw couples toward marriage become misused when expressed before the wedding, producing guilt, shame, jealousy, twisted emotions, self-pity and lifelong regret. Making out constitutes foreplay that belongs exclusively to married couples, and testing a prospective mate sexually is unnecessary because married people encounter no inherent physical sex problems, only mind problems rooted in selfishness, impatience or lack of commitment. Going steady heightens the temptation to become physical, while dating outside the church or across racial lines further increases the risk because such relationships commonly progress toward serious involvement and marriage. Even when a partner promises future change, the leverage for reform exists only before the wedding. The broader message of the present distress reinforces these cautions: time remains short, attention must stay fixed on eternal values rather than physical happiness, and marriage itself should occur only with another member of the church. Those who remain patient and faithful, trusting God to supply the right mate at the proper time, avoid the emotional entanglements that complicate life during the final sifting of the church and the approach of greater tribulation.
The Curse of Teen Pregnancy
CGG Weekly by Richard T. RitenbaughContemporary society exhibits widespread acceptance of premarital sexual activity, as evidenced by high-profile cases of young celebrities bearing children outside of marriage. This trend contributes to the United States possessing the highest teen-pregnancy rate among developed nations, with statistics indicating that nearly 36 percent of live births in 2004 occurred to unmarried mothers, and the rate for teens rose again in 2006. Such patterns stem from the sexual revolution of the 1950s and 1960s, which has also fostered elevated divorce rates, cohabitation, sexual diseases, and other societal problems. Premarital sex frequently results in teen pregnancy that imposes severe lifelong challenges on young mothers. These women often face continuous demands of infant care, hindering completion of education and pursuit of higher learning. Limited to minimum-wage employment due to insufficient qualifications, they frequently depend on government assistance. Socially, the fathers of their children provide minimal support, and prospects for future marriage diminish substantially. Unmarried mothers also experience higher rates of depression, which adversely affects their children. God's prohibition against adultery encompasses all sexual immorality, including premarital relations, out of love to spare individuals the hardships of single motherhood. Abstinence until marriage represents the path that enhances quality of life and aligns with divine wisdom.
Bad Is The New Good For Girls!
Commentary by Martin G. CollinsThe material explains that fifty years ago the dividing line was clear, as good girls did not have sex before marriage while bad girls did, and it was considered good to be a good girl. Today's culture has reversed this standard so that bad is the new good, with teenage girls commonly having their first sexual experience at ages thirteen to fifteen yet often delaying marriage until their late twenties. This creates a decade or more of unconstrained sexuality outside any lifelong commitment, a situation unprecedented in four thousand years of recorded history. Girls are now expected to engage in premarital intercourse, and many feel ashamed to admit they are virgins, reversing the shame pattern of earlier generations. The culture encourages sex without romance, and girls frequently participate in sexual activity, including oral sex, with no promise of relationship or commitment. This pattern leaves many girls with a brittle sense of self and places them at higher risk for depression, which researchers link directly to early sexual involvement. The longing for traditional romantic roles remains strong, yet societal pressure pushes girls toward sexual agency without guidance or moral clarity on what it means to be good. God designed single women to desire attractiveness and value, yet Satan perverts this longing to drive destructive choices. Scripture states that God's will is sanctification through abstaining from sexual immorality, warns that such conduct displeases Him and incurs judgment including death when unrepented, and describes a virtuous wife as one whose conduct does good and not evil all the days of her life, including prior to marriage.

CGG Weekly by Richard T. RitenbaughJesus advises a repentant Christian to attack sexual sin at its starting point, making it less about sinful acts than about an immoral way of thinking.
Divorce and Remarriage
Sermon/Bible Study by John W. RitenbaughAny given doctrine must be built layer by layer, combining and comparing scriptures rather than allowing a single scripture to determine the doctrine. When we understand that porneia includes all the hideous perverted sexual sins that go beyond ordinary adultery- including bestiality, pedophilia, homosexuality, incest, and every other imaginable sexual perversion, we understand that Jesus gave a greater latitude and flexibility in these divorce decisions than we had earlier assumed (based exclusively upon adulterous 'fraud'). Any violence against the marriage contract (stemming from unconversion) would constitute grounds for divorce, and would permit the converted partner to remarry. Mutual access to the tree of life (God's Holy Spirit) gives marriage the best (actually the only) chance to succeed.
