Remember Lot's Wife
'Prophecy Watch' by Ted E. BowlingIn the account of Sodom and Gomorrah, the depravity of the city's inhabitants is starkly revealed through their actions toward strangers. The perverted men of Sodom surrounded Lot's house, brazenly demanding that he surrender the two angels to them for molestation. This grotesque riot involved both old and young, rich and poor, demonstrating the depth of their corruption. In a desperate attempt to appease the mob, Lot offered his own daughters to them, but this only incited further violence against him. When the crowd became physically aggressive, the angels intervened by pulling Lot inside and striking the Sodomites with blindness, causing the mob to eventually disperse after tiring of searching for the door to Lot's house. This incident underscores the extreme moral decay of Sodom, contributing to God's decision to destroy the city due to the great outcry against its sins.
The Writing of Prostitutes
'Prophecy Watch' by Martin G. CollinsIn a decadent society, the lusts fueled by pornography bear the fruit of horrible sexual crimes, including rape. Such acts, as referenced in Deuteronomy 22:25-27, are in direct and open violation of God's law. Lewdness and sexual sins, like rape, degrade that which God created in His image and bring man down to the level of animals. As pornography and sexual perversions increase, they continue to affront God and defile the land, leading to severe consequences for the inhabitants of nations who practice them.
Leadership and Covenants (Part Six)
'Personal' from John W. RitenbaughSatan's attack on marriage and family includes various forms of immorality that undermine God's design. A vivid example of this destructive behavior is rape, which involves a sexual action but is most certainly a forcible attack against another. It cannot be considered an affectionate action in any way. It is the forceful taking of momentary pleasure while simultaneously injuring another. Such a vile act hardly builds oneness, by any stretch of the imagination, and stands in stark contrast to the loving, sacrificial loyalty God intends for marriage.
