God reveals that when His people accept the attitude that homosexuality is normal, they have begun to tread the path that will ultimately lead to their destruction. As the same conditions that existed in the days of Lot become evident, we can take comfort that the glorious second coming of Jesus Christ is drawing near. When He comes, He will make the Spirit of God available to all, and homosexuals will be taught that they can repent and change. Jesus is described as a refiner's fire and like fuller's soap, sitting as a refiner and purifier of silver. He will cleanse the earth from all unrighteousness and perversion, showing all people how to live the way that leads to peace, happiness, and joy. Then and only then will the homosexual lifestyle be eradicated from the earth forever.

The Bible clearly denounces homosexuality, labeling it as an abomination, perverted, unclean, against nature, and shameful. Paul identifies sodomites among lawbreakers and sinners, warning that those who do not repent of this sin will not inherit the kingdom of God. Eternal death is the consequence for this unrepented sin, a truth so evident that many turn to other arguments, yet these fail to align with God's timeless laws. The same sin that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah continues to erode culture and will ultimately lead to its destruction, serving as a sobering reminder of the fate that befalls those who turn from God to their sinful desires.

God judges without hesitation, declaring, You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination (Leviticus 18:22; cf. 20:13). Paul extends this condemnation to lesbianism, stating, For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature (Romans 1:26). He further clarifies in I Corinthians 6:9 that neither homosexuals nor sodomites will inherit the Kingdom of God (cf. Jude 7). In the Old Testament, whenever homosexuality appears in society, destruction swiftly follows. The city of Sodom, which gave its name to this practice, stands as the foremost example of God's displeasure (Genesis 18:20-21; 19:1-29). Similarly, during the time of the Judges, the tribe of Benjamin faced near extermination due to a horrific incident rooted in this sin, resulting in massive losses and destruction (Judges 19-21). Later, under Rehoboam of Judah, the presence of perverted persons practicing sodomy and prostitution in religious rituals led to the conquest of Jerusalem by Pharaoh Shishak, who plundered the treasures of the Temple and the royal house (I Kings 14:24-26). At the end of Leviticus 18, God warns that the land itself becomes defiled by such abominations, and will vomit out its inhabitants as it did the nations before them (Leviticus 18:26-28). When a nation descends into such perversions, its decline accelerates, its strength weakens, and it becomes ripe for disaster, whether natural or through political and military means.

Sodomy originates as an eponym derived from the city of Sodom, whose ancient root means to scorch, a name fulfilled when fire and burning sulfur destroyed the place. The account in Genesis presents the city's men surrounding Lot's house to demand sexual relations with the two angelic visitors, an act that reveals a society given over to a debased mind incapable of reasonable self-reflection. This condition traces back before the Flood to the continual evil thoughts of humanity in Genesis 6 and reappears immediately afterward in the sexual deviance implied by Ham's uncovering of Noah. The table of nations places Sodom within Canaan's territory, and the city's location in the fertile Valley of Siddim, enriched by trade in salt and asphalt, fostered pride, fullness of food, abundance of idleness, neglect of the poor, haughtiness, and abomination. Ezekiel identifies these six sins as the iniquity that brought Sodom's removal. Romans 1 traces the progression from rejection of God to idolatry, lust, sexual perversion, and finally the debased mind whose twenty-three attributes include every form of unrighteousness. Sexual deviance therefore functions as an early symptom that precedes full surrender to that mind. The same cause-and-effect pattern appears in Proverbs and Psalms, where disdain for counsel produces calamity and the fool's denial of God produces corrupt works. These elements connect sodomy to the broader warning that any people or individual who turns from revealed truth follows Sodom into judgment, while the righteous are urged to come out lest they share her plagues.
