A Woman's World
'Prophecy Watch' by Richard T. RitenbaughIn the context of societal shifts and the rise of feminism, the role of women as keepers at home has been significantly challenged. God created men to lead their families and the nation, but when men abdicate these roles, women often step into positions outside their created makeup, which can hasten a nation's fall. Historically, women were expected to keep the house and provide pleasure and sons to their husbands, often seen as chattel with few rights. In contrast, Israelite women, influenced by God's law, had more opportunities, such as owning land and running businesses. Despite feminist advances pushing women into the workplace and public spheres, the divinely ordained roles of each sex remain paramount for spiritual development. The current societal state, where women may oppress others and proudly vaunt their power, signals a need for correction, which will ultimately come when Christ returns to establish true cooperation and balance between men and women in God's world.
The Politicization of Motherhood (Part Two)
'WorldWatch' by Mike FordThe politically charged rhetoric of leading feminists demonizes traditional marriage and motherhood, painting stay-at-home moms as domestic slaves.
The Role of Women
Sermon by Martin G. CollinsGod values the role of women, particularly in their function as wives and mothers, seeing it as one of the best barricades against the hopelessness of a dying civilization. Godly women, such as Jerusha and Jedidah, have transformed society by raising children of steady character, like Jotham and Josiah, who became righteous leaders. These women found fulfillment in serving their families, prioritizing the nurturing and direction of their children as a full-time responsibility. Their warm attitudes and calm strength provided homes with quiet confidence and stability, compensating for negative influences and earning them recognition in God's Word as admirable mothers. Mary, the mother of Jesus, exemplifies the challenges and triumphs of a godly homemaker. Enduring societal scorn, she raised a large household with competence and cool-headedness, nurturing Jesus into the sinless Savior. Her home, filled with peace, supported His teachings, which often drew from everyday family life. Mary embraced her roles as homemaker, counselor, and teacher, never viewing them as beneath her, but as vital to God's plan. Jesus respected her intelligence and inner strength, reflecting the high regard He held for her contributions. Society, under satan's influence, often demeans the stay-at-home mother, portraying her as ignorant and haggard, while idolizing the modern career woman as effortlessly perfect. This deceptive image undermines the true value of homemaking. Managing a home is akin to running a corporation, requiring skills in time scheduling, decision-making, problem-solving, delegation, and maintaining morale. A homemaker's responsibilities, from budgeting to teaching children, are as character-building as any executive role and are crucial for qualifying to rule in God's Kingdom. Proverbs 31 portrays the virtuous woman as a capable and forceful executive manager of her household. Full of mental energy, she prioritizes her family's success and closeness to God with enthusiasm and vision. Her role is not the shallow image society projects, but a challenging and demanding profession of care. God's purpose for women includes character development, equal to men, as both are made in His image and have the same opportunities to live in ways that please Him. In marriage, women's submission to their husbands mirrors the church's submission to Christ, reflecting a spiritual equality and mutual responsibility in God's design.
The Perfect Wife
Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughThe concept of a woman as a keeper at home emerges as a significant role within the framework of marriage, reflecting God's design for familial harmony. A woman's salvation and judgment are tied to how well she fulfills the duties of motherhood and womanhood, as seen in her responsibilities as a wife, mother, and manager of the home. God has placed her in this position to exercise faith, love, holiness, and self-control, and her growth in these areas is essential to overcoming challenges and achieving spiritual fulfillment. This role is not a diminishment but a vital part of the divine order, where she contributes to the family unit as a helper and companion, complementing her husband while maintaining equality in God's image. By embracing her role with humility and respect, she mirrors the church's submission to Christ, striving to return to the original intent of godly relationships before sin's disruption. Her efforts in managing the home and supporting her family are precious in God's sight, promising glory and exaltation when performed with a gentle and quiet spirit.
