The Wonderful, Powerful Gift of God's Holy Spirit

Sermon by John O. Reid

The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. It acts as a prosecutor, bringing an acute sense of guilt and awareness of sin to mankind, ensuring it cannot be ignored. God is determined to save humanity, and this conviction is a crucial part of that process. The basis of sin lies in unbelief concerning God and His laws, as many have rejected His messenger and message. Through the Holy Spirit, they are convicted of their error and shown that righteousness, as exemplified by Jesus Christ, is the true way to live. His resurrection stands as God the Father's stamp of approval, revealing the necessity of a righteous life that produces harmony and happiness through obedience to God. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit convicts the world of judgment, demonstrating that Jesus overcame satan, signaling that all sin will be condemned and judged based on God's laws, which were once disowned. If those who followed satan see that he is overcome, they will have no choice but to turn to Jesus Christ or perish. Thus, the Holy Spirit reveals the truth and guides into divine understanding, countering the lies and superstitions of the world, and shaping individuals to live correctly in accordance with God's will.
