Abortion

Sermonette by Martin G. Collins

In the United States, the most dangerous place for the preservation of life is in a woman's womb, with 1.7 million abortions performed annually as of 1993, resulting in the outright murder of fetuses torn from the mother's womb. Dr. Bernard Nathanson, once a proponent of abortion, later became anti-abortion and argued that the fetus is not part of the woman's body, describing it as an uneasy tenant, immunologically and biologically distinct. At six weeks of fetal growth, kidneys, stomach, and liver begin to function, and by the seventh week, the baby has measurable brain waves, a key indicator of life in medical terms. By the eighth week, the nervous system is in place, and at 10 weeks, the pre-born child possesses everything found in a newborn. By 12 weeks, the fetus can feel pain, reacting with squirming, thrashing, an accelerated heartbeat, and higher blood pressure, just as a full-grown individual would, with fully formed fingerprints and a weight of about one ounce, needing only to grow. Scientific methods, as emphasized by 26 doctors in a letter to President Reagan, confirm that pre-born babies feel pain during abortions, often even before the 12-week mark. The killing of 1.7 million fetuses a year in this nation has become a way of life, reflecting a decadence warned against by Italian attorney Rafael Balestrini, who stated that abortion as a social custom manifests a people's decline.

The media portrays conservatives as 'science deniers,' yet proclaims that gender is not a matter of observable, testable biology. Who is denying science?
