This ownership places believers under obligation to glorify Him in body and spirit by choosing clothing that portrays redemption rather than the unredeemed condition of the world. Scripture consistently employs the imagery of garments to represent internal realities: the best robe placed on the returning prodigal symbolizes the dramatic change from death in sin to life in the family of God, while the coats of skins God provided Adam and Eve after their transgression cover the shame introduced by sin and point forward to the robe of righteousness supplied through the Lamb. Clothing therefore functions as a visible witness that parallels the distinction made through hair length. It identifies the wearer as one who belongs to Christ, sets the redeemed apart from the surrounding culture, and reinforces the heart's submission to divine standards. Worldly fashions, driven by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, deliberately expose and accentuate sexually arousing areas in the manner of harlots, revealing a heart still aligned with Babylon rather than the Kingdom. In contrast, attire that maintains clear gender distinction and modest covering demonstrates self-government, contentment with God's provision, and the priority of the inner reality of redemption over external display. Because the redeemed have been transferred from the power of darkness into the kingdom of God's Son, their daily choice of clothing becomes an act of remembering whose they are and of allowing the outside to strengthen the inside so that conduct aligns with the praises they are called to show forth.
