Peter, a Sketch

CGG Weekly by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

Peter moved to Capernaum, where his wife's family also lived. In Capernaum, Peter and Andrew owned a fishing business, possibly in partnership with Zebedee and his sons. While engaged in this trade, Jesus called Peter, his brother, and the sons of Zebedee, telling them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." Jesus made Capernaum the center of His ministry in Galilee.

Before Honor Is Humility: The Story of Andrew

Article by Martin G. Collins

Although Andrew was a native of Bethsaida and spent his early years as a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee, he later moved to Capernaum. The Miracles of Jesus Christ: Healing a Nobleman's Son

Bible Study by Martin G. Collins

In the account of the healing of the nobleman's son, a nobleman from Capernaum journeys over twenty miles to Cana to seek Jesus' help for his dying son. Driven by urgent need, he implores Jesus to come to Capernaum, believing that Jesus' presence is necessary to cure his child. Jesus, however, heals the boy from a distance with His word alone, demonstrating that His power is not limited by location. The nobleman initially doubts this possibility, expecting a gradual recovery, but the cure is immediate and complete. Upon returning to Capernaum, he learns from his servants that his son was healed at the exact moment Jesus spoke, confirming the miracle. This event not only saves the boy from his deadly fever but also strengthens the nobleman's belief, leading to the beginning of conversion for his entire household.
