The 'experts,' supported by a fear-mongering media, have generated a level of fear which is unwarranted by the statistics. Victor Davis Hansen reports that California, the first state to be economically shut down by concerns over the virus, has experienced a death rate that is statistically insignificant. Statistically, about 704 people die daily in California; the virus has increased that number, on average, by only four deaths per day. The over-reaction of some politicians leads to the conclusion that they are playing politics with this crisis. Throughout history, most of Israel's leaders have been dishonorable individuals. Today is no exception. Leaders will do virtually anything to use this crisis to consolidate their power and further their agenda. Sadly, the real devastating crisis to modern Israel may occur after the coronavirus runs its course and over-reacting politicians have seriously damaged the economy.

transcript:

Here we are, deep in the midst of a crisis reaction to COVID-19, a coronavirus whose origins, infection rate, means of infection, and death rate are not fully known. Leaders of nations the world over have been advised—I don't know exactly who has been advising them; the World Health Organization and others—to jump into worst-case-scenario mode, and now a third or more of mankind is hunkering down in some form of stay-at-home, shelter-in-place, semi-quarantine. The medical system—good in some places, better in others—is braced to be overwhelmed with victims (at least that's what the experts are saying—they are going to be overwhelmed and not have enough masks, etc., for all the people who are going to be coming into the hospitals), governors are screaming for federal aid, and the media, even though they have been warned, are still ginning up fear and telling us breathlessly every time the rate goes up. It is sheer madness, in my opinion. I look out there, and because of all the crazy situations that I see, I don't want to watch the news. I'm just tired of it.

Because of this, we must sit at home—those of us who have been deemed “non-essential”—that's really a blow to the ego—and wait for it to pass while our formerly-roaring economy sputters and sparks and tanks as we speak. The country has been set on a war-footing against an enemy we cannot see, and we fight it with distance, masks, and gloves. We listen to the updates from the President’s task force, from the mainstream media, from this and that Dr. or Ph.D.—those who claim to know what is going on, and then we find out they really don't—and all they have done is to confuse us about what is going on, what we should do, when all this will be over, how long we have to stay at home, and whether our economy will recover in the short or long term.

To me, it sounds like the perfect playground for the enemy to do its work. I don't think it is any coincidence at all that this has happened around Passover and the holy days. I don't know; perhaps the main target of all this is the church. And God may well be allowing Satan to do this to test His people and their reaction to this sort of thing.

But I want to know what is really going on. I am a seeker of knowledge and I want to know what is going on. What will things look like on the other side of all this? What’s the endgame of those who want to destroy this nation and this church and remake it in their own image? Are we to believe that life will just pick up where we left it in March? What is going to change?

I read just this past week that there are sociologists out there who are saying that the Generation Z may be forever changed by this spring and having to stay home from school and witness the nation going through this.

Victor Davis Hanson is a classicist and historian at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, a well-known conservative columnist. He made comments this week on the Ingraham Hour on Fox News that deserve a few minutes of pondering, just to show you how strange this all is. He is an expert on California history, economics, and politics.

His comments spring from the fact that California, perhaps the most liberal state in the Union, which has implemented all sorts of far-left laws during the past few governors’ terms, still has the fifth-largest economy in the world. As a state, it has the fifth-largest economy in the world, right after the United States and China and Japan and Germany. Here is one state in the union that is a powerhouse for this nation. Just put that in the back of your mind. Forty million people live within its borders, and on March 19, when California shut down, it had 19 coronavirus deaths. Yet, without hesitation, the governor, Gavin Newsome, issued the order to become the first state in the nation to almost completely suspend its economic activities.

Let’s do the math. Up to today, California has suffered 237 coronavirus deaths out of roughly 40 million people. When you divide this out, it comes out to six deaths per million people. Does shutting down an entire state for six additional deaths per million make sense? It doesn't to me. That's why I ask: What’s going on here?

Put it this way: Normally, each day, 740 people die in California from all causes, and coronavirus has added to the California daily death toll, on average, four additional deaths per day. I understand—every death is a tragedy. I don't want to minimize the deaths, but I want to look at the stats here, because it makes things clearer about how ridiculous the reaction has been. Four additional deaths per day is barely statistically significant, and to my mind, does not warrant such a drastic, draconian measure like an entire state shutdown. California has twice the population of New York, the hardest hit state, yet it has suffered less than one-tenth the deaths. It is twice as large, but has only suffered one-tenth the number of deaths as New York. Yet it was the first state to do this. Why did it take such a drastic step right off the bat?

Now, you could be saying, they did it because they wanted to stop the coronavirus in its tracks. That's basically the excuse that they give.

But California, I believe, is a paradox—high population, high immigrant population, a very high Chinese population, generally low health, lots of homelessness, yet still a low number of coronavirus deaths—but it shut down its economy first.

In fact, most, if not all, the early shutdowns were states with Democratic governors: California, New York, New Jersey, Washington State, Michigan, Illinois, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont, etc. Most of the few states holding out have Republican governors, like Henry McMaster of South Carolina.

I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but what is happening in California and these other places makes me suspect something nefarious is afoot that we cannot see, that we have not been told about. Certainly, it is playing politics with a crisis, at the very least, something leftist politicians are wont to do because they find that an easy way to score points. The desire for power and for change in their direction is too strong.

My point to you is this: Don’t be naïve about the leadership in this country—city, state, national. Take a lesson from the Bible. The leaders of Israel and Judah right before their fall were horrible people, and it is probably going to play out the same way in the nations of Israel at the end time. Our leaders are not doing all this out of the goodness of their hearts. We do not have righteous leaders in Washington or in the state capitals or on our city councils or mayor's residences. They are not. They are not converted.

Remember that God tells us in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart of men is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. They will use this crisis to advance themselves and their agendas, no matter what the cost to the people or economy or unity of this nation. People are so selfish, they will do anything to get what they want, and that does not stop when you become a leader. It actually gets heightened. What I am saying here is that the real crisis may emerge after coronavirus has run its course. Pray that it doesn’t.
