Reconciliation (Part Two): Christ's Work
Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughThe reconciliation of Israel is a significant step in the broader process of reconciling all things to God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. As part of this divine plan, following the return of Christ, He will subdue the land and clear out the rebels and enemies of God, focusing initially on pacifying the whole land of Israel. This act will enable the remnant of Israel, captive and enslaved across the earth, to return to the land of their fathers as a humbled people. Once in this state, God will extend grace to them, justifying them by the blood of Christ, whom they had previously misunderstood and resisted. Israel will reach a point of total contrition, repenting and loathing themselves for their past resistance and mistakes against God and Christ. Through the work of God's Spirit, He will give them a new heart, transforming their hostility into reconciliation. At that moment, God declares that they shall be His people, and He will be their God, marking the reconciliation of Israel to the Father. They will become one people again with the Israel of God, accepted into the greater Israel and reconciled with those already in harmony with Him. This reconciliation of Israel, beginning with their return and transformation, sets the stage for the Millennium, where God pours out blessings on them after their submission. It is a foundational part of the broader reconciliation of all things, starting with Israel and eventually extending to nations beyond, rolling forward until the entire earth and all creation are in unison with the Father.
