The Seventh Trumpet

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

The sounding of the Seventh Trumpet, as described in Revelation 11:15-19, heralds a momentous proclamation of the Kingdom of God. This trumpet, the last of the seven, announces the return of Jesus Christ as King, coming in great wrath to execute His judgment upon the earth. Loud voices in heaven proclaim that the kingdom of this world has become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, speaking with certainty as if it has already occurred, for His plan is sure to come to pass. This trumpet sounds for days, not merely a brief fanfare, signaling an extended period during which the events of the seven last plagues unfold, culminating in His return. The Seventh Trumpet encompasses both punishment and reward. The nations, filled with anger, face His wrath, while His servants, the prophets, the saints, and those who fear His name, receive their reward. The 24 elders fall on their faces in abject humility and gratitude, thanking Him for taking His great power and reigning, a moment long awaited. This trumpet also signifies the destruction of those who destroy the earth, encompassing all who harm through sin, leaving no one exempt from His judgment unless they repent. Associated with the Day of the Lord, the Seventh Trumpet echoes the themes of war, judgment, and victory, as well as the gathering and rewarding of His elect. Its sounding marks a time of darkness and devastation for the unrepentant, yet for the faithful, it brings unparalleled joy as He establishes His reign and intervenes in world affairs to bring peace and righteousness.

Trumpets and Hope

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

The seventh trumpet, as revealed through John in Revelation 11, marks a pivotal moment. It is the last trumpet to sound among others in the prophetic sequence, announcing the inauguration and commencement of Christ's eternal reign on earth. He will never be usurped from His throne. This trumpet blast signifies not only His return as King but also as Judge, bringing rewards for His prophets and saints who fear His name, both small and great, while punishing those who destroy the earth, those who do not fear His name, and those who remain in sin and unrepentant. The sound of this trumpet heralds the establishment of His unending dominion over all nations.

The Rapture and Trumpets

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

The seventh trumpet, as part of the seven trumpets which are judgments against rebellious humanity during the Day of the Lord, holds a unique significance. These trumpets, detailed in Revelation 8:1 through chapter 9, verse 29, represent the outworking of the seventh seal, marking the Day of the Lord. The seventh and last trumpet judgment is executed personally by the Judge Himself with His coming. His arrival and the destruction He brings serve as a culmination of God's wrath on sinful, unrepentant humanity, putting down all rule against Him. This trumpet blast announces both the triumphant return of Jesus Christ to establish His Kingdom and the resurrection of the elect, the firstfruits, aligning with the great announcement of His appearing in power and glory.
