Still Producing Fruit?

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

Hearing the word of God without producing fruit leads to failure in multiple categories of response. Those by the wayside hear yet the devil takes the word from their hearts lest they believe and be saved. Those on the rock hear and receive the word with joy yet they have no root and in time of temptation fall away. Those among thorns hear yet they are choked with cares riches and pleasures of life and bring no fruit to maturity. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit nor can a bad tree bear good fruit and every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Those who hear yet fail to keep the word observe it and bear fruit with patience or hupomone or endurance do not complete their sanctification. They drift away after reaching a certain point by putting their talent in a hole and doing nothing with it. They coast after past accomplishments and get farther from the goal. They trade fiery sins for apathy pride selfishness and slothfulness while mistaking apathy for godly serenity. They cease dreaming and setting goals once in old age despite having the most knowledge wisdom wealth and free time. God requires His people to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling by producing much fruit in every good work while increasing in the knowledge of God. Without abiding in the vine and working in the field no fruit appears and the branch is cast out withered gathered and burned.

Many false gospels appear among professed Christians, imitating Satan's clever lie that we can become like God by doing our own thing, disregarding God's law.

Teaching Us to Think (Part Two)

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

God instructs us to be living sacrifices. Too many drag this change out over decades, thereby self-limiting the process of sanctification.

Maintaining Good Health (Part 9)

Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh

Good spiritual health follows the same patterns and laws as do physical and psychological health. Any permanent change in character must come from within.

God Will Understand

Sermon by Martin G. Collins

God pays attention to the small things we may excuse in ourselves, sins we commit in weakness. God's patience does not constitute approval of our sin.

Simplifying Life (Part Six)

Sermon by David F. Maas

True simplicity, peace, and spiritual flourishing emerge when we yield to both God's laws and human authority, embracing order rather than resisting it.

God's Epistle
