Cutting Off the Snake's Head

CGG Weekly by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

The concept of battle imagery emerges vividly with the strategy of targeting leadership to disable an enemy, akin to cutting off the head of a snake. This approach, used since the dawn of warfare, aims for swift victory by removing or incapacitating the enemy's command, despite the challenges posed by their protection. When successful, it promises a shorter conflict, fewer casualties, and minimized damage. This imagery extends beyond physical confrontations into the spiritual realm, where our warfare is not of flesh but of spirit. Our great spiritual adversary and his minions stand as formidable foes, described as principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and hosts of wickedness. In this unseen battle, the guidance is clear: resist the adversary with steadfast faith and submission to God. We are to abstain from every form of evil, following the example of Jesus Christ, who countered temptations with Scripture and unwavering resolve to obey only God. Ultimately, God Himself will strike a destructive blow to the head of our spiritual enemy, promising a swift end to this enduring hostility.
