Grace, Mercy, and Favor (Part Three): A Faithful Witness to God's Mercy
Sermon by Mark SchindlerBrethren, we must take God's warning through the apostle Paul in Ephesians 6:10-19 with utmost seriousness as we live in a world at war with satan and his demons. Their influences are very real, and we are engaged in a battle that can only be won by staying as close to Christ as possible. Though demons may not procreate with men, they remain a driving force toward evil continuously if we stray from the path right behind Christ, failing to trust in the only perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ. As we faithfully move forward, like Abel, Enoch, Noah, and all who have used God's gifts to do their work, we must trust completely in His perfect judgment, tempered by His mercy through Jesus Christ.
The Wonderful, Powerful Gift of God's Holy Spirit
Sermon by John O. ReidIn the battle against the adversary, we are called to put on the armor of God to stand firm against the wiles and schemes of satan, who seeks to destroy us with every fiber of his being. This fight is personal and up close, a hand-to-hand combat waged in our minds, where we must guard our hearts with all diligence. The term 'wiles of the devil' reveals that satan is cunning, laying out traps to defeat us with lies and false images that appear enticing but lead to destruction. We are instructed to take the shield of faith to quench the fiery darts of satan, which are his deceitful lies that present wrong ways of living, tempting us away from God's truth. God calls us to be faithful, kind, and loving in our relationships, while satan counters with images of forbidden desires and selfish pursuits. We are urged to earn our living through honest work and trust in God for provision, but satan plants schemes of quick riches and excess, leading to stress and discord. God desires loving order in our homes, with husbands leading in consideration and wives submitting in appreciation, yet satan promotes division, resentment, and rebellion against these roles. Whatever God instructs, satan offers a counterfeit message to cause sin and loss, aiming to instill attitudes of bitterness and hatred that distance us from God. To resist, we must wear the armor of God, standing against satan's plans to annihilate us. Having truth as our foundation and the breastplate of righteousness, we strive to live a righteous life with each other and the world around us. Prayer for one another and for the ministry is vital. The key to overcoming satan lies in being conscious of what God wants and performing it to the best of our ability, relying on the power of God's Holy Spirit to develop the character needed to be sons of God. Though satan is a tool in testing us, causing us to resist his darts, our faith in God's instruction equips us to live rightly in this evil world and quench the fiery lies hurled at us.
Seeking God (Part Two): A Foundation
'Personal' from John W. RitenbaughIn the Christian's fight to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, as commanded in Matthew 6:33, the battle requires divine resources provided through a relationship with Him. Ephesians 6 describes this struggle against the carnal heart, the world, and the devil, urging believers to put on the whole armor of God. This armor represents the virtues and powers essential for both offensive and defensive combat in spiritual warfare. Power belongs to God, and He willingly empowers His children to face these challenges. Seeking Him becomes the central battle against the three major foes that constantly resist, tempt, or allure. God must provide spiritual powers to direct His children's lives properly, ensuring they are equipped to overcome and grow in their pursuit of His Kingdom.
The Holy Spirit: The Power of God
Sermon by Kim MyersLet us focus on the vital importance of putting on the whole armor of God to stand firm against the strategies and deceits of the devil. As Ephesians 6:11-12 reveals, God supplies this armor, enabling us to successfully resist the powers and spirit forces of wickedness in the supernatural sphere. A crucial part of this armor is our knowledge and complete understanding of God's doctrines and laws. When we comprehend and humbly keep these teachings, we strengthen ourselves spiritually and enhance our protective armor. Without this understanding, we risk confusion and vulnerability, unable to stand up for the Word of God. Every time we face attacks from satan, lacking the full armor leaves us exposed, and some may become spiritual casualties. We must ensure that we are not caught unprepared, for satan will exploit any weakness in our grasp of God's laws and doctrines. By fully embracing and living by God's way of life, we equip ourselves with the armor necessary to endure and overcome.
The Temptations of Christ: Behold, the Lamb of God
Sermon by Mark SchindlerAs we stand firm in the face of spiritual battles, we are called to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. We must put on the whole armor of God to stand against the wiles of the devil. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this age, and spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. Therefore, we are urged to take up the whole armor of God to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Let us stand therefore, having girded our waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, we must take the shield of faith, with which we will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. We are to take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. This armor equips us to fight the battle that Jesus Christ has made absolutely possible, as we learn to live as He lives, standing behind the shield of faith in Him. The holy days serve as a vital part of this process, reminding us of our duties and responsibilities to overcome the devil and uphold the Word of God in a world filled with deception.
Is 'I AM' Truly the Lord Your God?
Sermon by Mark SchindlerAs we journey from bondage to the place God has prepared for us, we must be equipped to stand against the spiritual forces of darkness. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, and put on the whole armor of God to stand against the wiles of the devil. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand with your waist girded with truth, wearing the breastplate of righteousness, your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, and above all, taking the shield of faith to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Take also the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and being watchful with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. Through Jesus Christ, we have been able to put on this armor and advance directly behind Him as He leads us into the place He has prepared.
Darts
Sermon by John O. ReidWe are called to a spiritual battle, as outlined in Ephesians 6:10-18, with a ringing call to arms. Our duty in this calling is to fight and overcome the enemy, strengthened in God, knowing that He will not let us fail. Victory comes through battle, and we must equip ourselves accordingly. Ephesians 6:11 urges us to put on the whole armor of God to stand against the schemes, pits, traps, snares, and ambushes of the devil. Standing firm is the key, and the equipment listed in Ephesians enables us to face this enemy and his cohorts. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our wrestle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this age, and spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. We engage in hand-to-hand combat against these rulers of darkness. Ephesians 6:13-14 instructs us to take up the whole armor of God to withstand in the evil day, having done all, to stand. We must gird our waist with truth and put on the breastplate of righteousness, being immovable concerning sin and steadfast in righteousness. God's truth, as revealed in His Word, must be solidly with us at all times, for it is the only way of living that can bring us into the Kingdom of God. Ephesians 6:15 calls us to have our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, providing firm footing in truth without fighting or arguing. Ephesians 6:16 emphasizes taking the shield of faith above all, with which we can quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. These darts, likened to arrows dipped in pitch and ignited, represent the temptations and attacks we face, but faith will protect us through trials, with the promise that He will never leave us. Ephesians 6:17 directs us to take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. The helmet protects the mind that thinks and hopes, preserving us in spiritual conflict with the hope of salvation. The sword, being God's Word, is living and powerful, guiding us in every aspect of life through study and prayer. Finally, Ephesians 6:18 calls us to pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful with perseverance for all the saints, maintaining close contact with God to avoid drifting away in this ongoing battle.

When the Trumpet Blows
Sermon by John O. ReidIn the context of biblical imagery and history, the sound of trumpets carries profound significance. For many, it evokes the longing to hear the trumpet that heralds the return of Jesus Christ, signaling the end of man's misguided rule influenced by satan, and the cessation of the pain inflicted on humanity. Biblically, in Israel's history, the trumpet often served as an immediate warning of imminent war, death, and destruction. It also recalls the intimidating blast that grew in intensity as the Ten Commandments were about to be given, and the commands in Numbers 10 where the sound of a trumpet directed the movement of tribes. Furthermore, there is a revealed insight among God's Family that a final trumpet will be blown, marking a critical moment of change and judgment, though the world remains unaware of the utter devastation that awaits until that sound is heard.
