Jesus Christ's Trial (Part Four)
Sermon by Martin G. CollinsJesus Christ as the Truth fulfills the teachings of the Old Testament and reveals the true God. He is the only source of truth, which ultimately comes from the Father. In His conversation with Pilate, Jesus defined His Kingdom as not of this world, affirming positively that it is of the truth, and that He came into the world to bear witness to the truth. He declared Himself as the embodiment of truth, stating unequivocally that He is the way, the truth, and the life. His statement to Pilate indicates that truth is an entity, singular and objective, able to be observed and discussed without prejudice. Jesus also implied that truth, in the ultimate sense, is not of this world but must come by revelation from above. Furthermore, He taught that truth is personal and has become embodied in Him, as the one who reveals all mysteries and makes everything plain to those who come to Him.

Jesus in the Feasts (Part Two): Firstfruits
Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughJesus Christ stands as the central figure of Scripture, the very Word of God, our Savior, and soon-coming King. He is the focal point of the entire Bible, with every element ultimately pointing to Him. He Himself declared that the Scriptures, from the law to the prophets and the Psalms, are about Him, emphasizing that understanding Him is paramount for His disciples and for all who seek to follow God's path. In the holy days, particularly in the Feast of Pentecost, His prominence is undeniable. The feasts reveal His character and work as Redeemer, High Priest, and King. He is everything, the Head without whom we cannot function or exist. As the Firstfruits, He is the initiator of God's spiritual harvest, the firstborn from the dead, and the preeminent model for all who follow. On wave sheaf day, He represents the beginning of the harvest chronologically, while on Pentecost, He is the standard of excellence, the One the elect must emulate. He proclaims, "I am the way, the truth, and the life," revealing that no one comes to the Father except through Him. He is the trailblazer who has forged the path through this world, showing us how to reach glorification by following His example. His life is the trail we must walk, imitating His steps to avoid stumbling in the rugged terrain of life. His call to "Follow Me" is the first duty of His disciples, a charge to conform to Him, to do as He did, whether in serving others, suffering without complaint, or keeping God's commandments. The truth is in Him; we need look no further. He is the source of all spiritual understanding, strength, and growth. Without Him, there can be no overcoming, no production of fruit. As the true vine, He underscores our complete dependence on Him for everything spiritual. We are to abide in Him, walking as He walked, to become firstfruits like Him. God has given gifts to the church to help the saints grow into His image, forsaking the human way and embracing the godly way of true holiness and righteousness. As our Passover, our unleavened bread, and our Firstfruit, He is the Archegos, the captain of our salvation, who in love leads and guides us in our walk of faith to the Kingdom of God. He does the heavy lifting, providing His example, instruction, gifts, help, and strength. Our focus must remain firmly fixed on Him, for He is the true center of Pentecost and all feasts, making everything possible for us to become firstfruits after His manner.

The Way, The Truth, and the Life
Sermonette by Clyde FinkleaJesus Christ is central to the spiritual understanding of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, embodying the essence of truth. He declared in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." As the truth, He is represented by unleavened bread, which symbolizes purity and sincerity. This connection highlights the importance of loving truth, for to love truth is to love Jesus Christ Himself. The eating of unleavened bread for seven days during the feast pictures the act of feeding upon Him, the perfect and completely true bread from heaven. As long as we partake of Him, we carry eternal life within us. Furthermore, His role as truth ties into the purpose of the feast as a sign that the Lord's law is in our mouth, preparing us as spiritual Israel to be priests who will instruct the world in His Word.
