Are the Blood Moons Significant? (Part One)
CGG Weekly by David C. GrabbeThe phenomenon of blood moons has recently captivated many, as four lunar eclipses, known as a tetrad, coincided with significant holy days in 2014 and 2015. Such an occurrence is rare, having happened only nine times since the time of Christ, and it draws attention due to biblical references to the moon turning to blood. Joel 2:31 states, "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord." However, other scriptures, such as those in Revelation's Sixth Seal, describe additional cosmic disturbances alongside the moon's change, including the sun darkening, stars falling, and the sky receding, indicating a far broader scope of events than mere eclipses. Furthermore, the predictability of current eclipses, enabled by the stable orbits of heavenly bodies, contrasts with the chaotic, unpredictable nature of the events described in the Sixth Seal, where God will shake the heavens and move the earth out of its place, as noted in Haggai 2:6, 21 and Isaiah 13:13. Christ also foretells in the Olivet Prophecy that the powers of the heavens will be shaken, reinforcing that these cosmic signs will occur in a manner beyond human calculation. Additionally, these disturbances are timed after the Fifth Seal's martyrdom and a period of unprecedented tribulation, suggesting that the current sequence of blood moons, while symbolically significant due to their alignment with holy days, does not fully align with the complete biblical depiction of end-time events.
Are the Blood Moons Significant? (Part Two)
CGG Weekly by David C. GrabbeThe sun and moon serve as significant signs in the heavens, as established by the Creator in Genesis 1:14, where the lights in the firmament are designated for signs and appointed times. When these lights are darkened on God's marked days, it prompts consideration of their deeper meaning. Scripture links the darkening of the sun and moon with times of judgment, as seen in the Sixth Seal of Revelation, which heralds the beginning of God's judgment on those persecuting His people. The book of Joel mentions the sun, moon, and stars being darkened as precursors to God's wrath. Similarly, Isaiah 13 foretells the heavenly lights darkening as part of God's judgment on Babylon, and Ezekiel 32 connects the darkening of the heavens with the extinguishing of Egypt's light by God. In Ecclesiastes 12, the darkening of these heavenly lights symbolizes the dimming of a person's mind and vitality as they approach the end of life, akin to a period of judgment. Recent celestial events, including lunar eclipses on significant days like the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles, and solar eclipses on the last day of the previous Hebrew year and the day before the new civil year, align with these appointed times, suggesting a pattern beyond mere coincidence.

2015 Eclipse
Commentary by John W. RitenbaughA set of astronomical events like these will not occur for another 500 years. Consequently, this could be a significant year prophetically.
