Effective communication depends on effective listening—and Scripture repeatedly calls us to listen carefully to God. From "today, if you hear His voice" to Christ's command, "He who has an ear to hear, let him hear," the message is clear: hearing must lead to understanding, obedience, and endurance. Jesus, the living Word, calls us to choose attentive devotion like Mary rather than distracted busyness like Martha. The Parable of the Sower reveals four kinds of hearers, warning especially against those whose spiritual growth is choked by worries, riches, and pleasures. Their failure to bear mature fruit parallels the lukewarm Laodiceans, who mistakenly believed they were spiritually rich. Christ's warning is sobering: what we think we have can be taken away. Therefore, listening to God is not optional—it is essential to abiding in Christ, bearing enduring fruit, remaining spiritually prepared, and being ready for His return.
