We are shown that God commands us to enhance our courage and faith to overcome fear so that we can steadfastly complete our journey into His Kingdom. We see in Proverbs 29:25 that fear can lead us into a trap. It makes us afraid to stand up to the current of the world and possibly end up falling off the path of God because of the overwhelming pressure to not be different from the crowd. It is God who gives us the gift of courage to see us through the trials. Fearful demeanors of the world are the opposite of His way. Power and love are given to us through the continuous study of his Scripture. The love and confidence that we get through spending time studying and practicing His way enables us to overcome anything the world throws at us. We see Old Testament examples of courage through Joshua up to the martyrdom and trials of most of the disciples. While the world did not see this overcoming of fear and martyrdom in many cases as a great victory, God considered them successful. Overcoming the fear of the satanic current and staying on the path of God is the essential goal of the Faith.
