Like the chronic use of drugs, habitual sin hardens the heart and lowers the barriers of conscience, leading to more sin. As Jesus Christ warns, "Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you." Each act of sin reduces inhibition to further transgression, often causing collateral damage to those close to us and beyond. More critically, it separates us from our Father and His love, breaking the vital connection necessary for true religion. Without this connection, we risk being eternally lost, weighed down by bad habits that curtail our freedom and corrode our potential.
