God reproduces Himself through a cooperative process between Creator and created, transforming human nature into godly nature. Those led by the Spirit become children of God, brought to glory and sharing the Father's and Son's quality of life. The resurrection yields God-beings qualitatively equal in kind but not rank, remaining in thankful submission. Mankind was created after the God-kind, elohim, as Adam's sonship and Christians' new creation confirm. They will bear Christ's image and join the divine Family as kings and priests. Elohim expands, increasing its number as sons and daughters enter, becoming one institution filled with its fullness.

We Shall Be God

Sermon/Bible Study by John W. Ritenbaugh (1932-2023)

God is reproducing Himself through a cooperative time- and experience-consuming process between the Creator and the created. This process differs from a fiat creation and produces a transformation from human nature to godly nature. Those led by the Spirit become children of God by means of a special spiritual creation. They are brought to glory and share the same quality of life as the Father and Son. The resurrection leads to a God-being who is qualitatively equal with God in kind but not quantitatively equal in rank. Such sons remain in thankful submission to the Creator while being of the God-kind.

'Like Father, Like Son'

CGG Weekly by John Reiss

God created mankind after the God-kind as stated in Genesis 1:26. The word for God in this verse is elohim, a Hebrew word that is plural in form but can be used in a group sense. According to God Himself, mankind was created after the God-kind. God has actually sired humanity. Luke writes in Luke 3:38 that Adam was the son of God. Christians have been chosen by God before the foundation of the world. Nothing produces offspring that is destined to be something different from its parent. In John 3:3-8, Jesus relates a Christian's life, upon spiritual regeneration, to the process of being born into a new life. The apostle Paul says that we become a new creation. In I Corinthians 15:47-49, Paul writes that as we have borne the image of the first man, Adam, we shall bear the image of the heavenly man, Jesus Christ. David knew that he would be resurrected in the likeness of God. The apostle John says that when our change comes, we shall be like Christ, for we shall see Him as He is. Hebrews 2:5-9 says that man was made for a little while lower than the angels. In the Hebrew of Psalm 8, the word angels is elohim, which indicates that David referred to God. Jesus Christ is the Captain of our salvation. This word captain is archegos, one who leads the way so that others may follow the same path. In the Kingdom of God, God has and will always have supreme authority, and at His right hand, Christ is second-in-command. We will not be anything less than elohim of the God-kind any more than one human being is less than another. The prophecy in Revelation 5:9-10 says that God has made men to be kings and priests to God and that they shall reign on the earth. God's Kingdom is a Family. God is the Father, Jerusalem above is our Mother, Jesus Christ is the firstborn among many brethren, and we are His sisters and brothers. When we are changed to spirit at the resurrection from the dead, we will be fully members of the God Family, elohim.

The Nature of God: Elohim

Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh

God is increasing the number who are in the God family. God is increasing what Elohim is. Elohim is expanding. We are already children of Elohim. We are in His Family. God is expanding. He is increasing His number. We are going to be a part of that God family. Elohim is a family of at least two divine beings. Many sons and daughters are coming into the divine Family. Elohim is developing into a nation the Kingdom of God. The whole purpose is that you might be filled with all the fullness of Elohim. Elohim is an institution consisting of more than one person. We are being drawn into that same institution to be one with those who are already there. Almost everybody on earth is going to be part of the same God family that now consists of two.

Psalm Genres (Part Seven): Trust

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

God is reproducing Himself. He wants others of His kind. Whether one speaks of it in terms of having children in His image, or bringing us into the New Covenant, or making us all one in Christ, it all boils down to God wanting to have a relationship with His human creations. The ones He made specifically and told that they could have dominion over all the rest. Whom He said He had made in His image, male and female. And He obviously wants us to fulfill a great purpose. He desires the closeness and loving unity of a divine Family. And He is going to do everything He can to bring that to pass, and because He is God, He will bring it to pass. Central to that relationship is faith from both sides.

The Purpose of the Church
