Hedged About on Every Side
'Ready Answer' by StaffGod provides a protective hedge around us, as He did for Job, insulating us from the full extent of what satan desires to do. This hedge, a barrier of enclosure and protection, ensures that nothing can compromise our safety under the care of our most powerful and loving Father, tailored to our needs in any given situation. As with Job, this protection is partly established through the application of God's truth in our lives, enabling us to make decisions that guard against the destructive consequences of sin. God's hedge limits satan's actions, preventing trials from becoming worse than we can endure, showing His mercy even when the trials are painful. The closer we are to God and live righteously, the greater our resistance to satan's assaults, as God's hedge strengthens our defense. Even when God allows satan to test us by peeling back this hedge, He ensures the trial is not beyond our ability to endure, using it to strengthen our faith and character. God's mercy is evident in setting parameters on what satan can do, just as He did with Job, protecting us from satan's homicidal intent. By submitting to God and relying on His truth, we can resist satan, knowing that God has hedged us about as long as we obey His Word.
The Dew of Heaven
Article by Ronny H. GrahamIn the context of God's creation and protection, a hedge serves as a vital barrier, much like a fence or wall, safeguarding a crop from external threats. When a hedge is broken or full of holes, it fails to protect, allowing dangers to invade and destroy what is within. God has allowed the hedge to be taken away, leaving vulnerability where once there was security. Without this divine protection, the exposure to harm mirrors the spiritual drought experienced when God's Spirit and truth are withheld, emphasizing the critical need for His covering presence.
Rebuilding the Wall
'Prophecy Watch' by StaffIn the effort to protect our spiritual lives, we must build a strong wall around our homes, making them sanctuaries against the ways of the world. The head of the house bears the responsibility to guard what enters, ensuring the home remains a castle dedicated to holiness, a citadel where children learn to honor God, and a bastion where satan's influences are kept out. This home should be a safe haven, actively and consciously defended against breaches. We must be vigilant, as seemingly harmless elements like television and videos can act as electronic Trojan horses, bringing in content that dishonors God. Music, too, requires careful evaluation, for while not all is harmful, some can pervert thoughts and emotions with themes of rebellion and immorality. The Internet poses another threat, with countless sites promoting ungodliness, necessitating strict monitoring to protect family members from its snares. The standard for what enters our spiritual wall must be high, allowing only what brings glory and honor to God. By maintaining this vigilance, our families will feel safer and more secure, knowing their home is a place where God is worshiped, His name is held in holy esteem, and standards of love and kindness prevail. Like Nehemiah, we must survey the state of our spiritual walls in our homes and lives, recognizing the vital necessity to rebuild and restore our relationship with our great God.
