God's Powerful Gospel

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

The gospel, as presented by God, is not a matter of argument or debate but a clear announcement of His purpose. He states His message plainly, giving the hearer the opportunity to accept or reject it without cajoling or compromise. The gospel is non-negotiable, a complete package that must be accepted wholly or not at all, with no alternative paths to the Kingdom of God. It is the gospel of the Kingdom of God, named for its ultimate goal, focusing our minds on where we are headed and the preparation required to reach it. This gospel encompasses far more than just the announcement of a coming Kingdom. It includes healing the brokenhearted, delivering the captives, setting people free, removing blindness, and opening salvation. It also involves witnessing, testifying to the truth, producing belief, giving eternal life, and opening the way for resurrection. The gospel message covers everything necessary to call, teach, correct, and motivate a person toward salvation and entry into the Kingdom, serving as the complete revelation of God to man. The gospel is the power of God for salvation, a dynamic force that actively works to destroy sin and build righteousness within us. It is living and powerful, piercing deeply to discern thoughts and intents, cutting out what should not be there while making room for what is godly. It reveals God's way of life, a concept foreign to carnal minds, packaged in a way that we can understand and grow through a lifelong educational process. This process moves from faith to ever-increasing faith, aiming to motivate every thought, word, and deed by faith in God, never ceasing to build and perfect what He desires to produce in us for His Kingdom.
