In Defense of Marriage
CGG Weekly by Richard T. RitenbaughIn recent weeks, a fierce controversy has erupted over the institution of marriage, intensified by the Supreme Court's overturning of a Texas sodomy law and Massachusetts' impending legislation to legalize same-sex marriage. This debate reflects a profound moral decline in our society, as changing the definition of marriage is being seriously considered. If marriage is redefined to include combinations other than one man and one woman, it could signal the downfall of the nation, as no society has long endured after devaluing the marriage institution. Homosexual unions, unlike traditional marriages, cannot provide societal benefits such as producing children or contributing to the stability and productivity of families. The push for legal recognition and benefits for homosexual couples represents an ungodly attempt to pervert the noble institution of marriage.
Marriage—A God-Plane Relationship (Part One)
CGG Weekly by Richard T. RitenbaughIn the United States, marriage has faced numerous challenges over recent decades, with one significant issue being the push for same-sex marriage. This movement, emerging prominently alongside the rise of the homosexual movement in the 1980s, has sought recognition and legal status for homosexual unions, adding to the broader assault on traditional marriage. As part of the ongoing sexual revolution, this development contributes to the complexities and pressures facing the institution of marriage today.
Sacredness Of Marriage
Sermonette by James BeaubelleThe social order that once took God into consideration is being turned upside down, with the sacredness of marriage as a clear example of this shift. In California, a ballot initiative to declare marriage as only between a man and a woman is finding disfavor with the majority of voters and is likely to fail. It appears that marriage is no longer considered a sacred covenant between a man, a woman, and God, but rather a contract between any two persons seeking legal rights. This shift is seen as a sanctioned fornication of men with men and women with women, with the state providing a legal covering termed civil marriage to mask its wickedness. God is believed to be disgusted with this change. As described in Romans 1, society is moving away from seeking God's will, embracing gross idolatry and vile passions, with men and women exchanging natural relations for those against nature, reflecting a debased mind. Marriage and family, foundational to a healthy society, are being destroyed, preparing the way for a foundation of unrighteousness. God defined marriage as a joining of one man and one woman, as seen in Genesis 2:18 and 2:24, with the purpose of producing godly offspring, as noted in Malachi 2:14-16. Any changes to this divine structure are viewed as man's rebellion against the Creator, with many in California currently in a state of rebellion, suppressing the truth in unrighteousness as Paul warned in Romans 1.
The Sacredness of Marriage
Article by James BeaubelleThe social fabric of America is being turned upside down, with the sacredness of marriage under attack as old values are replaced by new, troubling ones. In California, Proposition 8, declaring marriage to be only between a man and a woman, passed despite polls showing majority opposition, succeeding by a margin of 4.6 percent. However, in Massachusetts and Connecticut, marriage is no longer seen as a sacred covenant between a man, a woman, and God, but merely a legal contract between any two persons, sanctioning homosexuality and covering its wickedness under the guise of marriage. God is not caught off-guard by these changes, yet He is surely disgusted by them. The decay of marriage signals the broader decline of culture, as human nature seeks to remake God's institutions in its own image, weakening the foundations of a healthy society. This unraveling prepares the way for a foundation of unrighteousness, supporting the coming of the lawless one as foretold. Marriage, defined by God as a joining of one man and one woman, is of divine origin, and any changes to it represent rebellion against the Creator. The world's attempt to exchange the sanctity of marriage for the profane will never produce a healthy society, contributing to a trend toward national ruin as seen in history.
