Stalked by Satan
'Ready Answer' by Mike FordBe sober, be vigilant; for your adversary, the devil, prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Satan, likened to a lion by the apostle Peter, employs deceptive strategies and tactics under the cover of darkness, much like a wild lion hunting at night. His camouflage renders him nearly invisible, allowing him to stalk his prey unnoticed with acute senses and night vision far superior to ours. He patiently targets the weak, the ailing, and those who stray from the herd, striking with precision to inflict great pain without an immediate kill. Satan pins down his victims, wounding them first, prolonging their suffering before delivering a fatal blow. Even in his grasp, we can call out for help, for the LORD is near to all who call upon Him, hearing their cry and saving them. Staying alert to Satan's lionlike nature, always seeking to isolate and attack, is crucial to avoid being caught in his deadly ambush.
The Cunning of Satan
Sermon by Kim MyersWe are engaged in a lifelong battle that began at our baptism and continues every moment until either Christ returns or we are overcome by Satan. Satan, known as our adversary, leads a rebellion of demons against God and His government, seeking to destroy us both spiritually and physically. God warns us to be vigilant, as Satan and his forces are our enemies in an unseen spirit world that influences human minds and fosters conflict. Satan's tactics remain unchanged since his initial rebellion, using subtle and cunning words to deceive. He sowed doubt in Eve's mind with questions and half-truths, leading her to justify sin through a process that likely unfolded over time. Similarly, Satan attacked Christ right after His baptism, targeting Him in a weakened state after forty days of fasting, tempting Him with the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Christ defeated Satan using the words of God, demonstrating the power of spiritual armor gained through prayer and Bible study. Satan's attacks often come when we are most vulnerable, weakened by personal struggles such as sickness, financial issues, or marital problems. He persists patiently, using words to instill doubt and deception, just as he did with Eve and attempted with Christ. These attacks frequently emerge from within the church, through deceptive brethren or ministry, exploiting our trust with words that start small but grow into significant spiritual threats. Satan's goal is to kill us spiritually, ensuring our failure to qualify for the Kingdom of God. To combat Satan, we must arm ourselves with God's words, found through daily prayer and Bible study. Without this armor, we are defenseless against his relentless assaults. God provides ample warnings and the means to defeat Satan, but we must actively seek and apply His words to protect ourselves from deception, especially from within the church where the danger is greatest.

Surprise Attack
Sermon by Bill OnisickSatan's attacks on humanity are marked by cunning deception and surprise, beginning in Genesis 3 with the serpent's subtle tactics. He sows seeds of doubt, making us question why a loving God would withhold anything from us or allow us to endure harsh trials. Satan plants thoughts that we are victims of circumstances, blaming imperfect parents or the world for our struggles. He fosters envy and contention, fueling questions of why others have what we lack or why they act against us. These seeds nurture our carnal, prideful minds, driving competition against God and each other. From the start, Satan's surprise attack targets our inherent pride, which refuses to submit to anyone. He entices us with the desire to be masters of our own destiny, as seen when he convinced Adam and Eve they would become like gods and not die. This deception leads us to shove aside faith and trust in God in favor of self-sovereignty. Satan's tactics remain unchanged today, working subtly in our minds to create doubt and pride, making us feel deserving of more and questioning God's love during difficult circumstances. Our enemy is powerful, smarter, and more deceptive than any created being, controlling the entire world through his mastery of deceit. If we believe for even a moment that we are not vulnerable to his attacks, he has already gained the upper hand. His surprise attacks occur in our minds, battling to control our thoughts, attitudes, and inclinations that ultimately shape our actions. Satan knows that even a slight imbalance in our thinking makes us more prone to sin. Satan's attacks are not physical but spiritual, targeting the stronghold of our carnal, prideful, selfish hearts. He plants seeds of pride that prepare the way for sin, manifesting in subtle boasting or humble bragging, such as offering unsolicited opinions to appear superior or pointing out others' flaws to elevate ourselves. His spirit of pride accuses and separates, fostering competitiveness, ill will, and hard feelings among us, often through hidden sins like self-esteem, conceit, and vanity. Negative thoughts, attitudes, or actions not aligned with God's Spirit of agape are satanic in nature. Failing to forgive or love others, harboring resentment against neighbors or brethren, or condemning others stems from Satan's influence. He convinces us that such thoughts are justified, yet they bear no good fruit. The battle against Satan is won or lost in our mindset, attitudes, thoughts, and inclinations, which drive our behavior. To overcome Satan's surprise attacks, we must know our enemy and his deceptive tactics, constantly anticipating where he will strike next. We must fortify our minds, recognizing our weak spots and bringing every thought into captivity to align with the obedience of Jesus Christ. Only through God's Spirit of power, agape, and self-control can we pull down the strongholds of pride and cast out Satan's imaginations and thoughts that oppose God's knowledge. We must remain on guard, aware that Satan's seeds of doubt and contention are planted daily, intensifying as the end draws near.
