What Is Repentance? (Part One)

CGG Weekly by David C. Grabbe

John the Baptist, fulfilling his commission to prepare the way of the LORD, preached a fundamental message of repentance, declaring, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand! He emphasized a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins as the foundation of the gospel message. Following this, Jesus Christ began His ministry with the same urgent call: Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand, and Repent, and believe the gospel. He further clarified His mission by stating that He came to call sinners to repentance, not the righteous. After His death and resurrection, Christ instructed His disciples that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, starting from Jerusalem. Later, the apostle Paul echoed this command, proclaiming that God now commands all men everywhere to repent, as He has appointed a day to judge the world in righteousness. Paul himself preached repentance, urging a turning to God and the performance of works consistent with that change, emphasizing that true repentance involves a radical moral turn away from sin and a commitment to a transformed life through corresponding deeds.

The Two Witnesses (Part One)

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

The Two Witnesses (Part Two)

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

God's Powerful Gospel

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

The true gospel includes the complete revelation of God of His plan to reproduce Himself. If a gospel does not produce repentance and faith, it is false.

The Rest of the Sign of Jonah

Sermonette by David C. Grabbe

Jonah likely drowned; the great fish was his coffin rather than his prison. While Nineveh repented and was spared, Judah did not repent when Christ preached.

The Spirit of Antichrist

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

All of us have anti-Christ tendencies in us, and must work vigorously to root out the anti-Christ elements within ourselves and to become like Christ.

Jesus' 28 'missing' years were spent maturing, studying, and gaining life experience to equip Him as a high priest who could relate to human struggles.
