Our Spiritual Marathon

Sermonette by Bill Onisick

It behooves us not only to accept God's will, but also to earnestly desire it as our will, and not to kick against the goads, as Saul initially reacted.

Attributes of the Eagle

Sermonette by Christian D. Hunter

This message draws powerful spiritual lessons from the eagle- a magnificent awe-inspiriting creature God uses to illustrate His relationship with His people. Although listed among the unclean "detestable" birds in Leviticus 11, the eagle is repeatedly used in Scripture to symbolize God's protection, deliverance, and renewal. In Deuteronomy 32: 10-12 we learn about the eagle's three actions :1) stirring the nest, 2) hovering protectively, and 3) carrying its young , illustrating God's miraculous calling of each believer. Like eaglets awakened, guided, and lifted from danger, God alone stirs us from spiritual slumber, draws our attentions to them, carrying us out of bondage, "on eagles' wings" ( Exodus 19:4) Focusing on Isaiah 40:31. The speaker explores the deeper meaning of "renewing strength" and mounting up with wings like eagles." The Hebrew word chalaph suggest transformation from weakness to divine endurance. Psalm 104: 5 links the word chadash to renewal like an eagle's molting, comparing God's process of continually repairing and revitalizing His people over time, like the way an eagle's feathers are slowly renewed to keep it soaring. In closing, the speaker urges believers to let this Feast of Tabernacles to renew their bond with God. Embracing continual transformation through His Holy Spirit. Just as Almighty God carried Israel on eagle's wings, He sustains and people today, enabling them to rise above trials and soar like eagles.
