Go Forward

Sermon by Mark Schindler

God's elect have observed these holy days for nearly two millennia, not only reflecting on past events in His plan but also looking forward with greater understanding and anticipation of what lies ahead. He continues to move His declared purpose forward, aiming to bring all people into His Family. Those few, called by God, moved forward with absolute assurance of His plan, tenaciously holding on to it, and by their actions in faith, bore witness to His incredible work of preparation for the glory in the Kingdom of God that lies ahead. All those chosen by God, from Abel to Moses, acted and moved forward by faith, trusting Him despite their imperfections. Moses, carefully prepared from birth, led a nation forward with a focus on Jesus Christ, never flinching but holding staunchly to his purpose and enduring steadfastly. On this day, the 21st of Abib, God reminds us of the same responsibility to use what He has given us to continue moving forward without distraction. His command to Moses in Exodus 14:15, to tell the children of Israel to go forward, resonates as a powerful directive for us to stay focused on the job at hand, knowing the impossible is achievable with Him. We have been separated from this world and trained to follow the Lamb wherever He goes in sacrificial service to all of God's Family who will come after us, as a light in the darkness. Now, on this seventh day of Unleavened Bread, we should be ready to go forward, living as He lives in a world that scarcely knows Him, just as Moses was prepared to lead a recalcitrant Israel. Through Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit, all will eventually have access to the Father for His honor and glory, as the perfect work of God moves ahead. We must move forward as living witnesses to the power of God to accomplish what is impossible for men. Those in the Body of Christ are being prepared to go forward, called to work as part of the firstfruits and the united Body of Christ, sharing the same mind as Jesus Christ to serve all who will come after us. God has purposefully given us this sacrificial duty by His grace to play our small part now as His firstfruits, being trained in service with the Lamb, so we can serve with Him wherever He goes. We must keep going forward, with the Father and Son dwelling in us, at a time when the rest of mankind is in chaos and confusion. As we end these Days of Unleavened Bread, we are reminded that we are on a mission, our duty and privilege, with the Bread of Life within us, to be among the great cloud of witnesses that will go forward as a bright light to a dark world. Together, we diligently follow Jesus Christ's command to learn to love one another as He and the Father love us, believing that He is and that we come to love as He loves.

Don't Stop, Keep Moving

Sermon by Mike Ford

The priest Eli is a tragic example of someone who began his tenure with energy, but coasted into complacency, eventually winking at flagrant sin in his sons.

Fear and Faith (Part One)

CGG Weekly by Mike Ford

How many times has God delivered by a way we never expected? Moses was probably ignorant of how God would save Israel, but he had the faith that He would!

Faithful Travelers on a Spiritual Journey

Sermon by Martin G. Collins

We are not standing still but moving forward where we should be. Like faithful pilgrims of old, we are traveling toward something far greater than anything this world has to offer, a Kingdom prepared by God Himself. Peter encourages us not only to be aware of the challenges along the way but to look forward with anticipation and hope. Even in a world full of distractions and uncertainty, we are called to grow, to stay grounded, and to keep moving ahead with confidence. Our journey is not random but guided. Our struggles are not meaningless but shaping us. Our destination is not uncertain but promised. Peter emphasizes that we face a real danger, the risk of being misled by the ways of the ungodly. Spiritual stability must be actively maintained through continuous growth in grace and knowledge. Peter tells us repeatedly to look forward to God's Kingdom. The Days of Unleavened Bread represent the Israelites' eager anticipation of the Promised Land as a type of our looking forward to God's Kingdom. We walk by faith, not by sight, which requires a deep reserve of faith. Everyone who is faithful to God can look forward to this peace and joy. If you are going through your own struggles today, make sure you are moving toward God and not away from Him. We must be cautious not to become so attached to this world's desires and possessions that we are unwilling or unable to move forward at God's command. God will make a highway for the people to reach God's Temple in His Kingdom. The highway is the path for the righteous travelers leading from the wilderness of suffering to Jerusalem. It is discovered by following God. Only the redeemed will travel God's highway, His highway of holiness. These travelers will be protected from wicked travelers and harmful animals on their way. God is preparing a way for His people to travel home, and He will walk with us. He never stops pointing the way for us, and He is always beside us as we go. As we reflect on this journey of faith, we are not wandering aimlessly but being led. Every step, every trial, every moment of growth is part of God's great work of deliverance in our lives. Like the faithful pilgrims before us, we may not always see the full path ahead, but we know the destination, a city prepared by God, a Kingdom filled with righteousness and peace and everlasting joy. Let us press forward with confidence. Let us lay aside every weight and all traces of old leaven and walk with sincerity and truth. Let us embrace our calling as pilgrims, people of the Way who trust and obey and endure. Even when the road is difficult, remember this: God goes before you and He stands behind you. He strengthens you when you are weak. He guides you through uncertainty and delivers you in His perfect time. One day because of His faithfulness we will arrive not weary, not defeated, but refined and restored and rejoicing. Keep walking, keep growing, and keep believing because the journey is certain and the destination is glorious.
