The Glory of God (Part 3): From Glory to Glory
Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughJesus Christ came to reveal the glory of God not only by what He said but also in Himself. He was full of grace and truth. God has shone in the hearts of believers to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ became flesh and dwelt among men. Those with Him beheld His glory as of the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth. Of His fullness all have received and grace for grace. Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. His life makes it possible for believers to have the same glory even now. The reason is that He lives in them and they in Him by His Spirit. The Spirit of God who dwells in believers is primarily Jesus Christ. Because believers have Christ's Spirit within them they have liberty to have the glory of God. They are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory just as by the Spirit of the Lord. Glorification under the New Covenant is a process. Believers go from glory to glory until they finally share the exact glory of Jesus Christ in the resurrection. When He is revealed they shall be like Him for they shall see Him as He is. Christ in believers is the hope of glory. As they put on Christ more and more their hope of glory grows stronger. The name of the Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in them and they in Him according to the grace of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
