Religious Confusion and You
'Prophecy Watch' by Richard T. RitenbaughSch Schism, strife, debate, and chaos mark the state of religion today, reflecting the world's turmoil within the church of God. Religious confusion abounds as divisions tear through various faiths. Within the Church of England, the ordination of 32 women as priests on March 13, 1994, at Bristol Cathedral sparked controversy, with the Vatican decrying the action as a hindrance to ecumenical talks between Anglicans and Catholics. Catholics face internal struggles with movements like feminist pushes for ordination and liberation theology, alongside Vatican criticism of fundamentalist biblical interpretation as distorting and dangerous. Protestant churches in America grapple with losses to New Age religions, spiritism, and secularism, while internal fights over political issues persist. Muslim fundamentalism fuels turmoil in the Middle East and North Africa, and Jews remain divided over Palestinian self-rule and Jerusalem's status. Northern Ireland sees no lasting peace, and the Chinese government suppresses Christian missionaries and religious leaders. Jesus Christ warned of such deception in His Olivet Prophecy, urging vigilance against false claims and end-time prophecies that contribute to this chaos. This confusion, the playground of the devil, stems from a lack of godly authority and refusal to submit to the Word of God as a guide for life and belief. Israel's historical rejection of God's laws mirrors the actions of all nations, amplifying religious discord. Returning to the faith once delivered and submitting to the Bible's authority offers a path to diminish doctrinal confusion within and outside the Body of Christ, heeding Christ's caution against deception.
